There's an ongoing nationwide problem at all Target Stores. All cash registers are off-line and some stores are closing as lines are long.

Reports from around the nation are readable at www.downdetector.com

Is this simply an internal problem at Target or is this a deliberate malware attack?

Who would do this intentionally? Iran? North Korea? China? Russia? Bitcoin blackmailers?

Did you have a problem at Target today?

i am a PC tech and some of the other forums have mentioned the outage...hard to believe as back-up should have back-up most big websites experience only blips lasting a few minutes at most (China?)

Yes most places are set up in case of certain outage for the cashier to be able to enter the codes manually.
I had used my Target card the day that that happened five years ago!!!!!
When Anthem Blue Cross was hacked, I was one of the customers they had hacked info on!
Same with when Equifax was hacked!!!!
Just lucky I guess!!!!

Target acknowledged the problem and attributed it to internal technology not an outside attack.

Yes, I couldn't find anything I'm Target. Went with my mother this morning/afternoon and we both walked out empty handed...

I know from time to time systems like this go down and it isn't related to malware or a hack. Just the server crashes. As the saying goes, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar...

I'm hoping the problem was just a system burp, not an attack.
