Massive loud internet anger.
Many quasi threats by inbred bubbas who will not get out of their basement. IE armchair warriors.
A few incidences of non armchair warriors.
Various groups sue.
inevitably struck down on 2nd amendment grounds by SCOTUS.
More than likely just like the last few. A bunch of angry internet cidiots whining because no one turned in their "assault weapons" and bump stocks. Then probably vote to layer on a few more useless laws like ammo back ground checks that do nothing. Or banning bringing ammo into the State. More unenforceable garbage that makes their feelers happy.
No LE is going to risk their life doing a no knock, no warrant attack on someone's house by kicking in their door.
They may try a gun buyback. They'll offer you $100 for your $1000 AR-15.
And like Australia it will be a MANDATORY buyback, so really confiscation. How can the government "buy them back" if they never gave, nor sold them to me?

What will be the going rate? Looks like a potentially good investment!
This was done a few years back in Australia with minimal muss & fuss.
I have argued that it could be done by EO based on the 14th amendment:
"nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law."
There are over 40,000 gun deaths per year now in the US. While most of them are suicides, which in theory would not be impacted by gun confiscation, still that is a lot of people being deprived of life w/o due process of law. How is that not unconstitutional, then?
Presumably it would end up in the SCOTUS, but hopefully by then, the most devastating and fearsome weapons (e.g. the 9mm) would be confiscated and melted down.

Stop lying troll. The FBI indicates that firearm related murders were 11,004 in 2016 (last data I could find). The vast majority were inner city Black on Black violence where a gun was used.
It’s a very real possibility that the next Democrat President will try to take away guns by EO. They basically said this at the debate. What will be the response? Acquiescence? Ignoring? Resistance?
Just out of curiosity, were you old enough to vote in 2008?
Do you remember the hysteria claiming that Obama was going to take everyone's guns?
Did that happen? But you're ready to be just as hysterical all over again?
The majority of Americans do think that some crack-down is needed, whether it's a matter of better administration or the winnowing out of excessive weaponry. Perhaps if the NRA and its supporters hadn't been so intransigent, maybe people like you wouldn't be so worried now.
EVERY time there is a presidential election they come out and say if a Dem is elected they will take your guns. Every. Time.
I have guns, I'm not worried anyone is going to take them. Well, maybe Bernie. Bernie is crazy.
