Another rent a cop flexing his muscles.

Was it that hard to simply verify with the doctor that his patient was indeed allowed to walk around with the IV in?

A man says he was racially profiled when he was arrested by police as he walked outside a northern Illinois hospital with an attached IV.

Freeport police on June 9 arrested Shaquille Dukes, his brother and another man for disorderly conduct because of their behavior toward a security officer and police. Authorities say the security guard, who is white, called the police because he believed Dukes was trying to steal the equipment.

Was it that hard to simply turn around and go back into the hospital when the guard told him to?

Oh yes, because then you couldn’t have a confrontation with the police to prove your black machismo.

I've never heard of a hospital letting a patient walk around outside unassisted. You can't even leave the hospital after a stay and get into the car without a nurse pushing you in a wheelchair from your room out the door, although that may be hospital specific.

Does it make sense to anyone that someone who is hospitalized for pneumonia would be allowed to walk outside on his own after two days of care?

He was walking back INTO the hospital. And yes, many patients walk around the hospitals with IV poles. The nurses will tell you that you shouldn't, but patients have rights and if you want to go do that, it's your decision and risk.

Only mental health patients with a hold are not allowed outside.

You guys are ridiculous, making excuses for this dumb cop. This "officer" was flexing his muscles due to them being black.

I think we should all see the video if there is one that shows the lead up to the arrest.

The guy was probably stopped by the security guard out of concern, maybe he was overzealous BUT then it depends on how the patient and his buddies handled it.

Myself standing there in a johny.. I would have handled it with humor. I wonder if these guys handled it with a racist chip on their shoulders?
