quote : "According to the state just 23,847 people registered their so-called “assault weapons” since the 2013 law took effect. These people registered a total of 44,485 firearms. So, according to the NSSF’s estimate, some 976,153 New Yorkers didn’t register their “assault weapons.”

This means that nearly one million New York State residents might now be committing felonies—this has turned average, and presumably otherwise law-abiding citizens, into a class of people who are now living beyond the law."

near one million in one state alone

And the left (all the current democratic candidates) wants to do this on a federal level.............

Your mechanic, your dentist, your doctor, your car sales man, all those everyday people you know that have never done anything wrong turned into instant criminals. Good going!!

But hey at least the left want people in jail able to vote. Guess they will be making some votes against them.

Statism: where you commit a minimum of 3 (presumably serious) felonies per day even if you think you're minding your P's and Q's.

Keep votin' America!

These state laws are unconstitutional and need to be overturned by the courts.

Prior laws in NYS already require registration why aren’t these already registered.

in my opinion, this all started with the 55mph speed limit.
the average citizen realized that "traffic law" was no friend.
it conglomerated into "no friend" drug laws and now gun laws.
essentially, regarding guns, live "beyond" the law.
you have been doing that for so long, it is habit, now.

Even a backwards, regressive state like NY didn't require registration of long guns. At least when I left in '94 they didn't-given how much more regressive they have gotten since then that may well have changed. They always had a registration scheme for handguns.
