My mom chose to have a child and handled her responsibility just like my father did, but the government isn't our parents and isn't around to take care of us (that's a big shock to some of you, I know).

It really should be obvious, but some people are control freaks and busybodies who want to decide who does what, and how people's resources are used...and others are duped into thinking those control freaks know best, so they advocate force against people just trying to live their lives in peace.
I think anyone who thinks this way is either extremely spoiled and/or naive. It’s easy to be an American with all the first world comforts, but try living in a developed country. They would laugh at you if you tried to tell them that the right to clean drinking water or education wasn’t a goal the government ought to pursue. These rights are literally what separates modern advanced countries from their feudal past.
