Shouldn't all the white people go back to the countries where they came from so the natives can have all of their land back?
TS. They really should have enforced their immigration laws when they had the chance. Gotta wonder why those on the left can't learn from their mistakes. Those that can't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Europe is experiencing this now.

On a more serious note, it's 2019, not 1800. Throughout history every conquered people have been had to assimilate and adapt. Ultimately just as "non-conquered" people have had to adapt to changing times and conditions. We treated native Americans far, far better than most conquered peoples-allowing them to keep their own "nations" within the US. To live outside the laws that apply to other Americans. To avoid paying income taxes. To keep property "in perpetuity" without paying any property taxes on it. But at the same time they are provided all the rights and privileges of any American citizen. More importantly we are not doing the native Americans in this day and age any favors by permitting special treatment and the existence of separate "nations" within our borders.

The Japanese manga series "Golden Kamuy" had anime adaptations for Spring 2018 and Fall 2018 and 3rd season is in development. It is basically a Japanese version of "Dances with Wolves" but with the Hokkaido-dwelling Ainu, one of the indigenous groups of Japan.

The tribe here has filed suit in federal court, with the backing of the federal government, that their reservation has TOTAL and ABSOLUTE right over ALL the water carried in the river that ends on the rez. That includes all water fed into the river. Upstream snow melt, tributary streams and creeks (which are snow fed) and all aquifers that contribute to the river via seepage.

Thus, any and everyone who uses water in the river upstream of the rez for any purpose must bpay the tribe and anyone with a well tapping into an upstream aquifer must cease and desist usage , dynamite the well and forced to hook up to a municipal system operated by the city/county who will charge the residents for said water and pay a handsome percentage to the tribe.

The Indians claim that the language in their treaty specifies their absolute right to all the water on and off the rez. The feds sent in fleets of people to serve us all notice on this and the city , licking it's lips about getting us all on city water, built a big infrastructure system that they anticipate we will all be forced to hook up to for our water needs. If I had to dynamite my well and pay for city metered water it would break me. I use my well for irrigation, domestic and livestock. My bill would be huge. As would a lot of other peoples.

So we all got together and said ...screw the tribe!! This ain't happening. Same for the city and their metered water. People are ready to put on blue uniforms and ride through the rez with torches and grey ones to deal with the feds. The Indians don't even utilize their agricultural land and the water just flows into a resevoir and sits there minus a pittance flow they are supposed to maintain to feed a lake downstream. Which is a salt water lake, and is now totally dead.

But they want that water, at least total right to it,and the cash that would come with that. All because of an interpretation of a 180 year old treaty. People are fighting mad. We are wholly dependent on this upstream water for our livelyhoods and lives. And the tribe now thinks they can cash in on that. In a massive and destructive way at that.

A continuation of the Indian Wars is at the front of the minds of folks herebouts.

If they got to keep all the land they bargained for the FIRST time with the US government .. that would be a good deal.

Since the US government broke their treaties and deals with several nativ tribes, again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again.

this whole thing is just as stupid as the repatriations movement... the Native Americans today are many generations away from the ones the land was actually stolen from.

On behalf of the wooly mammoth, I demand an apology and reparations!!!!!
And some Native Americans stole land from other Native Americans and some Native Americans waged a war of oppression and death on other Native Americans. The Aztecs weren't pacifists, they terrorized their neighboring Native Americans with death and economic exploitation and yet are revered by Mexicans. Stop the hate?!?!

Such is human history around the globe.

We need Native Americans to apologize to themselves and pay each other reparations.
