First, I want to say that I'm not hoping for a recession. Actually quite the opposite. This is going to be a huge problem for me in my personal life if things continue on their current trajectory. My prediction is that next year at this time, news cycles will be dominated by skyrocketing unemployment rates, job losses of 500,000-1 million per month, people losing their homes, bank failures, etc. And thanks to Trump's reckless tax cuts and spending spree, the US won't have the ammunition to fight this one. The chips are going to have to fall where they may and what we are in for is something that could be as bad as the Great Depression. This is going to be what 2008 would have been had it not been for the bank bailouts.
The top thing Trump has had thus far working in his favor was Obama's strong economy that he inherited. However, thanks to Trump's reckless trade war it looks like that's coming to an end. This also gives Democrats an opening to shift the focus from immigration to the economy.
Do you think Trump will still win against this backdrop or will the anti-SJW backlash and anti-immigrant sentiment on the right allow Trump to win anyways?

Name the Democrat who will beat Trump. Name the one from that cast of crazy loons, walking cadavers, has beens and never wuzes running for the Democrat nomination.

Once you do that, we'll have a discussion.
If the top issue for voters is immigration or other cultural issues (gay marriage, abortion, guns, religion), you may be right. If it's the economy, the Democrats gain a considerable advantage.

I don't care for him, but the polls so far show very clearly a significant lead for Biden over Trump.
This is without a recession.
Given the demographic changes occurring, 2020 is probably the Republican party's (with it's current political leanings) last chance to win the Presidency.
Republicans better hope there's no recession and Kamala Harris is the nominee.

How? Which such a wonderful platform of "open borders, free free free, free, free, free, free, and free, more free, and orange man bad? As a moderate who has voted blue in the past, I'd love to see someone who would continue to be tough on BALANCING trade, immigration reform, and maintain a COMPETITIVE corporate tax structure so we can retain and expand jobs and corporate tax income *here in the USA*. So far the democrat offerings are all dog doo.

No. The GDP sucked under Obama, as did unemployment, job growth, welfare, housing, and every other economic indicator out there.
He may not get re-elected but it won't be because of that. At this point, however, none of the current clown car of radical Socialist nanny-state open border free-everything Democrats could beat him.

The economy was bad under Obama during his first term mostly because of the economy he inherited from Bush. By the end of his second term, the U.S. was in a pretty solid place economically.
Most of what I'm reading here though is that anti-immigrant and anti-SJW sentiment will win the day even in the fact of an economy shedding 500,000-1 million jobs per month. Due to the fact that this will be entirely Trump's fault and that will be an easily verifiable fact, why would people vote for more of the same?

There's always the war option if the economy gets too bad...
WTF are they putting in the tap water in OK these days? Are you feeling ok?
