I've been following similar news for decades and a missile was always called a missile. A cruise missile, a ballistic missile, a guided missile, an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile.....
But, all of a sudden, news outlets are using the word projectile more times then missile...even when they clearly use both.
Seems strange to me. Projectile seems so much less harmful....just "shot a projectile", whereas before we were clearly being told about the types, sizes, range, speed, trajectory, etc. of the missiles.
"Trump has played down the recent projectile launches, saying they did not break any agreement"
"North Korea fires more projectiles, says it may be 'compelled to seek new road'"
A little actual info...I wasn't aware that "projectiles" flew 428 miles....nor that they were "new types of weapons designed for quicker launching"......
"North Korea test-fired two short-range missiles, one flying
"267 miles and another 428 miles. Seoul assessed the weapons to be "a new type of short-range ballistic missile."
"the weapon's maneuverability seemed to indicate it was designed to skirt missile defenses, such as the Patriot and THAAD batteries deployed in South Korea."
No worries. Trump has some nice color pictures on his wall...
If Trump can rename what NK is launching than Trump can say to the American people that NK is no longer testing missiles so his beautiful peace plan with NK is working and now he deserves his Nobel prize.
