I about vomit any time I hear someone talk about "investing in our children" or similar emotional marketing gimicks around Education funding. First off, I don't have any children, so by "our children" you mean your children that you want everyone else to pay for. Well we're tired of supporting this bloated, archaic beauracracy that doesn't produce results, is nothing but government daycare. And yes, teachers are overpaid.
In other words, parents should homeschool their kids. If parents work, they can do it after they get home from work. Or retired grandparents or other relatives and available friends could educate them during the day. There are private schools as well, if parents can afford it.
Or the parents could have a lot more say so in their childrens curriculum. Getting rid of the costly, bloated, ineffective Dept of Education would help.
Maybe one of the children will grow up to be a genius and invent the internet so i can have my e-rant about my wasted tax money i invested for his education
The Original Poster is fit and ready for the year 1750. But no internet, so no way to spread this opinion. All his life, he's been benefiting from the products of education, but is fully prepared to bite the hand that feeds him. I call this post trash-ready and a weak attempt at becoming a troll.

And leave education in the hands of the states? No thanks. We`ve seen textbooks in Texas that claim that slavery was a side issue in the Civil War and we`ve seen other states that have tried to kick Evolution out of their schools. We have enough idiots in this country as it is.

Half the country will believe dinosaurs were fake and put there by Satan to deceive us..
Educational "institutions" have turned into indoctrination farms. K-12 all the way up through advanced degree programs in higher ed. There used to be a fair amount of propaganda in education, but now the propaganda is in overdrive.
