The recent slaughter of innocent people in this country has people all over the internet telling lies, telling truths, blaming this one, or that one, and I have yet to see this question brought up specifically, on any forum.

The one thing I ask is that you LEAVE POLITICS OUT OT THIS DISCUSSION, and give an honest answer to this question.
If you feel a political answer is your only recourse, then please take it somewhere else.

Question, Why should ordinary citizens be allowed to not only possess, but use military assault weapons, capable of firing multiple rounds per second, as a killing machine of many, at one time?

Bob.

When everyone tries to be the hero, then that means there’s multiple people with weapons and the cops have no time to find the good guy with the gun.

People should be rifles, but the rifles should be limited in ammo and ammo count fire, as well as types of bullets used.

I'm happy to think about it if you more fully define what a 'military assault weapon is'. In law, it usually concerns purely cosmetic features but I'm sure that's not what you mean.

Consider famous white supremacist Nidal Hasan's weapon type.

Honestly, that seems about optimal for mayem causing.

tbh, all the commas makes it hard to figure out what you're saying. and it a=sounds political, whether you like it or not.

"Why should ordinary citizens be allowed to own and operate military-grade weapons intended for their efficient use in war?"

Is that your question?

No militaries use the weapons you are describing. The premise is a lie since the weapons that militaries use are already banned. If you want an honest answer, ask an honest question.

The phrasing of the question reveals the prejudice and agenda of the OP - so much for the naked lie about an "honest" question.

Ok, that is a better use of the question, now let's have an answer.
So far there hasn't been one answer.

As the gunnies will swiftly explain to you they are not actually military weapons. They are basically the same as the normal US rifle of the past 100 years or more. That is basically a semi automatic weapon that fires one round per trigger pull. They look like their military counterpart but are mechanically the same as the standard long gun of normal use for hunting and target shooting and such. 65 years ago I learned to shoot at Boy Scout camp with such a weapon.

There are some features such as clip size which can get quite large on some of the so called assault rifles.

Actually outlawing them is quite complex as it is very hard to differentiate them from the civilian equivalent. You could of course ban semiautomatics. But that would cover virtually all the common weapons owned in the US. And that would be a hard sell.
