Aren’t you in it for the same thing?

So why are they evil?
Humans act in their self-interest and they make up stories to justify their self-interest.

Humans have a great capacity for self-deception. When I was raising my daughter, I told her you lying to your friends in one thing.....but don't you EVER lie to yourself.

Look at Google. All those "moral" people in that corporation do not want the company doing business with the US Government. Their slogan was "don't be evil".

Yet, they bow to the Chinese Communist government and their suppression of human rights. REALLY the capacity for self-deception is so great in humans that you actually have Google believing that Communist China is a more moral country than the United States!!!

Look at Apple corporation and Steve Jobs. He stated that Apple production jobs were never coming back to the United States. Jobs was really impressed that the Chinese government could FORCE their folks to work all weekend and nights to FIX a mistake Apple made in the production of the IPHONE!!!

I am sure that Steve Jobs thought himself a moral person. I think he was VERY CAPABLE of LYING TO HIMSELF.

Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Apple.....are all very evil corporations. All have CEO's that talk about "not being evil" while they bring 1984 to fruition in the 21st century.

It is a simple matter of lying to yourself to protect your self-interest.

The real question is why the American people let Corporate Tech get away with being evil.

How does evil apply? A corporation exists to maximize profits and minimize costs. Always been that way always will. Economic Darwinism. Top management wins. The worker peon loses. That’s Capitalism. There’s no human equation. What’s the alternative?

Except that the Chinese government isn’t forcing anybody to work. They have abandoned that a long time ago.

Every worker at the Apple factory is there voluntarily and they are free to leave too.

When you buy an iPhone, who is the loser?

When you voluntarily exchange your labor with pay, who’s the loser?

I also notice that whenever people are arguing about corporations being evil they are usually talking about the Fortune 500 or some other set of large corporations. A majority oif the country's corporations ar small. A lot of family-run companies are organized as corporations because it is an efficient way to structure a business and limit liability. It's just a structure, there is no morality about it as such.

That is a demonstration of the pure evil!

Not really...because I have been to places (countries and localities) where there was a decent government because the people in the places...AND the elected officials, were moral and ethical. Of course, all of this is "to a degree". No one is perfect and very few people ar Ghandi-like.

But what we are talking about is simple. Stop allowing unlimited shell corporations. Don't allow bankruptcies to completely erase ALL responsibility.

Toss a couple hundred Rich Scotts in jail and we'd have much better corporate governance. But when the number of such people locked up is about zero...people will just continue to cheat. It pays.

That's a pretty low bar. Make it so cheaters don't get further ahead then regular honest and hard working people.

"Limit Liability" IS a moral choice...people are much more likely to take risks with OTHERS health and money if they don't have responsibility for it.

I'm not saying there is not a place for spreading out liability - that should be more the point then limiting it.

Take a small business. I start Joe-Blow remodeling, drywall and gas installation firm LLC. I get no training, no license and no building permits. I use inferior materials and put regular drywall where water resistant should be used. I use the wrong glues and the wrong pipe sizes. It takes 5-10 years before anything catches up with me....and when I see trouble coming, I dissolve the LLC.

The problem in the USA is we have too many loopholes and too many ways to cheat...look at that guy who is one of Trumps lawyers...a well known talk radio evangelical in DC. He has a charitable organization that not only is deeply political, but has paid him and his firm millions.

Everyone has a scam...and pretty soon there is no one left to pay the bills. That's where we are right now.

I mean...what do people think happened to the money Trump lost when the Taj Mahal (Casino) was sold for 5 cents on the dollar? Was it "moral" to screw taxpayers, investors, bondholders, contractors and everyone else and yet still keep your gold toilet? Apparently it is....not only that, people will tell you it was "good business sense" without understanding that SOMEONE (they) are paying the actual bills.

They are not evil at all. Corporations and business in general, and those behind them, have raised the global quality of life substantially, especially in the last 100 years. Everything around me I have a corporation to thank for.
