From what I have read, from political observers, members of Congress traditionally announce retirement plans after Labor Day (save, of course, those that are leaving due to health reasons, like Mr. Isakson, whom is leaving due to his progressing Parkinson's disease).

As such, if the tradition holds up, we may expect more retirements in the coming month. I assume some Democrats will also be announcing (a few have so far).

It was also observed that some of the House Republicans are leaving office due to their being in the minority in the House, and so without any 'power'. I assume that they do not expect the GOP to retake the House in 2020.

Some few Republicans are also leaving due to the GOP rule concerning service on a committee. Apparently, after a certain number of terms on a committee, said person must leave the committee. As such, they choose to retire rather than not be on the committee of their choice.

One cannot rule out that the Republicans, whom have private polling services, fear that 2020 will not go well for them. One poster observed that the Democrats must capture 4 Senate seats to take the majority. That is true, if Mr. Trump is reelected. If a Democrat wins the White House, then only 3 seats are needed, since the VP votes in cases of tied votes.

Ha! No, they're not.

As a moderate Independent, I would encourage them to, but the facts don't support your wishful thinking.

From what I've read, all the Trump properties are bleeding money except the DC hotel, Mar-a-Lago, and the Bedminister golf course.

Those don't appear to be financial shining stars, either:

Please detail how any of that money came from the US taxpayer.

And Clinton, who never made more than $300,000 per year, has a net worth of $80M.

And neither of those clowns ever did anything but talk and write books about themselves.
Where do you get that they never made more than that. BOTH of them make tons of money on the speaking circuit, sometimes making nearly that much money in a single gig.

The difference is that they agree to do a service for a price (even if an obnoxious amount, way overpriced), they deliver, they get paid. Like it or not, that's fair.

My point about exploiting is that Trump brags about exploiting loopholes on his taxes. He brags about not paying his debts to contractors. He brags about declaring bankruptcy (while living in luxury) to avoid paying his obligations.

Fine if you don't like Hillary or Obama, but can you point to where they've systematically and repeatedly agreed to a deal and then broken their promise, as has been documented so many times about Trump? Can you? (or is this another distraction/pivot to avoid having to justify supporting a con-man?)

Now we are stuck with them, and the consequences are huge. For instance, impeachment and conviction of a public servant was expected to be a non-partisan action. It was a review process, not a partisan exercise.

So we have a situation today where the politicians feel compelled to calculate the potential political damage to their 'team' before they decide what is right or wrong for the republic. It was never intended to be that way.

It's also hard not to wonder how a "great, successful businessman/dealmaker" would need to set up a phony university to scam people. The Trumpist tools who believe in this con man's bull**** must be pathetically gullible.

It doesn't really matter which party gains control of the government, the slow march to full blown communism will continue.
Despite the State of Emergency (1933), the bankruptcy of the government, and the PDSRA could not immediately change things.

A republican form is one in which all men have Creator endowed rights that governments were instituted to secure, as declared in 1776, and repeated in all state constitutions, who are promised a republican form by Art. 4, Sec. 4, USCON.
(If one consents to the democratic form, where a majority can legally oppress a minority, endowed rights are abrogated by mandatory civic duties.)

Ironically, neither party seems to give a hoot about the republican form of government. All they care about is the "tax and bribe" socialist democracy, where everyone is trying to vote themselves a living. When Trump advocates the repeal of social security, the 14th amendment, and ending the state of emergency, then I will believe that he's anti-communist.

I understand the Democrats have their own warts, but Republicans really seem to have nothing to offer. That is perhaps why educated suburban registered Republicans (like me) have been abandoning the party in droves. There is no reason to support them.
What happened to "fiscal responsibility," "traditional values," "free markets," "balanced budgets," ... ?

...and don't even get me started on how many tax dollars he's illegally funneled to Mara Largo. Between the golf outings (that he said he'd be too busy for), and now the G-Seven (+1) scam, it's amazing.

But you're wrong. These people are not pathetically gullible. They are willfully ignorant. I would give them a pass if they were as stupid as they appear, but no....
