That's the thing. If there is a he said/she said situation and both parties are believable, no one should have their lives ruined over mere allegations precisely because you cannot determine who is telling the truth. #MeToo flips this on its head.
Before the Kavanaugh accusers who recanted did so, the #MeToo crowd was labeling Kavanaugh a serial rapist/sexual assaulter based on their allegations alone, despite his strong and steadfast denials. That's the problem. It doesn't matter that these witches later recanted as liars. Its that their initial accusations (which amounted to nothing more than she said/he said allegations) were automatically believed and used to trash a man (i.e. Kavanaugh) by those who subscribe to this #MeToo narrative.
In the end, what matters is he was confirmed. Again, the right result (particularly if you're not given to believe women who cry assault).

And that same #MeToo crowd stayed conveniently VERY silent with the Epstein ordeal and some of his known "associates." Very telling indeed! Political agenda much?
That's the system working. No need to run scared from every woman you encounter if the system works.
Sometimes "the system" doesn't work and careers and educations are ruined. Sometimes the real victims make it out alive by the skin of their teeth. Remember the Duke lacrosse team?
It is legal and I am careful. I am in the accumulation stage right now. Documenting everything. The hostility toward males in the academic world is overt. My supervisor posts almost weekly on a public social media account her disdain for white males. These SJW #MeToo types think they can subvert males and engage in blatantly hypocritical behavior by treating males like trash. Time to beat them at their own game in the legal arena. Once one big case happens the floodgates will open against these types......
You are underestimating the power of this radical movement and who is behind it. Go after them and you will most likely come to regret it. Your "case" will probably go to some feminist left wing judge if it would ever make it that far. Why do you work amongst the enemy anyway?
I honestly think men are better off these days in "male oriented" work environments, modern academia is no place for a man who is not a radicalized left winger.
Now that women are majority of college grads they will take over professional and academic environments like medicine, law, etc and most young women coming up are leftists. Men who do not want to go along with it, need to think about their career futures.

And sometimes women are raped, their lives are ruined and no one is ever punished for it.

Al Franken. He believed in “the system,” and all would work out in his favor if given the chance to tell his side of the story.

No, that's not all that matters. Reputation still matters. And to millions of Americans Brett Kavanaugh is and will always be one who is guilty of sexual assault because Dr. Ford claimed he is in what was a she said/he said back and forth that was brought to life decades after the alleged event and in which people that Dr. Ford said would corroborate her account said they didn't have a clue what she was talking about. That's disgraceful.
Culture also matters. And those attacks are working to instill within millions that its OK to trash and ruin people's lives by believing a mere she said/he said allegation, despite there being no corroborating evidence.
So we turn a blind eye to unfairness just to even things out?
Who suggested anything that foolish? Not me. And not the prosecutors charging those women who lied.
Yet because of the nature of the crime, we can't often know. When you don't know it's not right to favor one side or the other. Metoo favors women, the righties on the board favor men.
I favor making the system fair as possible and accepting that some instances of either inequity are going to occur. I find the prospect of getting raped to be far more heinous than the prospect of being falsely accused and the numbers clearly show that far, far more women are raped than men are falsely accused. Those facts aren't to be ignored in coming up with as just a system as possible.
