Chris Hayes show tonight brought out the fact that when the Intel IG sent the Whistleblower report to the DoJ it was meant to be a request for criminal investigation of Trump’s asking for help from the Ukraine and also for the stashing of non-classified conversation on the SSS
Super Secret Server...
The DoJ deliberately treated it as a request —if this ok?— vs a report of wrongdoing...
The DoJ just playing dumb basically...
Justice Department clears Trump of wrongdoing on Ukraine call
The Department of Justice is not the judicial branch of the Federal Government, and therefore can not in and of itself clear anyone of wrongdoing. It can only choose to prosecute, or choose not to, and it already has a standing rule that it will not prosecute a sitting president regardless of the crime.
The Department of Justice works for Trump and is run by a corrupt AG appointed by Trump. 'Nuff said.
Im not too happy that DOJ agents did the investigating on this incident, this was a phone call from the US president to another nations leader/president, naturally thru investigating the call, the DOJ would be 'privy' to the details of the call...that is truly scary!
How do we know they didnt 'squirrel' away some dirt, for use at another time, when they need to use it against someone?
This means nothing.
Barr has proven to be dishonest and unethical and totally partisan...he acts like Trump's personal Lawyer, not the Attorney General of the United States. He is making a sham and a mockery of his position and of the office.
Drain the swamp? Trump has installed the most corrupt and evil Presidential Administration in the history of this Country.
Justice Department clears Trump of wrongdoing on Ukraine call
The Justice Department’s Criminal Division has already investigated President Trump’s conversation with the Ukrainian president about Joseph R. Biden and concluded Mr. Trump did not violate campaign finance laws, officials announced Wednesday.
And a separate division of the department has also ruled that the administration did not break the law by failing to quickly share a whistleblower’s complaint with Congress, saying the matter didn’t meet the definition of “urgent” that would trigger the law....
Yes, and these determinations are clearly correct. Even the Mueller Report says the AG is right about the campaign finance statute.
Justice Department clears Trump of wrongdoing on Ukraine call
It doesn't matter what the Justice Department erroneously thinks or does on this matter. Congress has the job of checks and balances and oversight of the Executive Branch. It actually has oversight of the Federal agencies as well.
The solicitation of a foreign national or government to help a campaign IS a crime. All you have to do is ASK and it is a crime. The law is that foreign nationals are not allowed to participate in our elections and that includes campaigns.
For impeachment no quid pro quo is required. This kind of corruption that sullies the interest of the United States based on the President's own political campaign is a classic high crime and misdemeanor and exactly the kind of abuse of office that the framers had in mind when they gave the House the power to impeach and the Senate the power to remove.
The only question is, are there going to be 20 Republican Senators who are concerned enough about national security to do the right thing for this country?
The DoJ clearing Trump is like Tom Cruise telling everyone Scientology is a great religion—
Nothing demeaning, dehumanizing about it at all...
