Taylor was ready to quit over this, he still might and that would be a victory for Russia.
And ultimately what Trump’s cabal could have hoped for when he began to question the policy...
They love forcing people to leave over reasons of conscience—
Ie...Mattis—now a former lobbyist is heading the DoD
Ie...Tillerson (as unlikely as it seems) left and Pompeo zoomed into that Secretary spot—and look how accommodating Pompeo’s behavior is for Trump...
Ie...Don McGahn was shown to have more of a conscience of Constitutional boundaries than the Gumby who is WH counsel now
Ie...Kelly finally couldn’t take butting heads w/Trump and left—-now there is no one in his spot to try to counter Trump’s whims and bad judgement
Admittedly some of the people on this list were never going to be whistleblowers about Trump’s wrong-doing
But I am hopeful Tillerson and Mattis will tell the truth at some point...
This OLC? The Office of Legal Counsel is an office in the United States Department of Justice that assists the Attorney General's position as legal adviser to the President and all executive branch agencies.
Yes, the OLC is the ones that makes these determinations.
The OLC are not Trump appointees, they are career DOJ lawyers.
So Giuliani is the appropriate one to investigate the 2016 election, not the US intelligence resources. Trump and Giuliani are not just investigating the election, they are investigating Biden, that is missing from his statement. Does Trump believe that it was Ukraine, not Russia that was involved in our elections.
Quote:
WASHINGTON — Secretary of State Mike Pompeo defiantly insisted on Saturday in Greece that the Trump administration was right to ask Ukrainian officials to investigate claims of election interference in the 2016 American presidential campaign, bolstering a widely debunked conspiracy theory that had already been dismissed by his own diplomatic envoy.
In comments to journalists in Athens, where he was meeting with Greek leaders, Mr. Pompeo said it was the “duty” of the Trump administration to pursue whether efforts to tamper in the United States election were rooted in Ukraine, even though the American intelligence agencies have long concluded Russia was to blame.
…..……………….
“It is not only appropriate, but it is our duty to investigate if we think there was interference in the election of 2016,” Mr. Pompeo said in Athens. “I think everyone recognizes that governments have an obligation — indeed, a duty — to ensure that elections happen with integrity, without interference from any government, whether that’s the Ukrainian government or any other. And so inquiries with respect to that are completely important.”
He added: “There’s been some suggestion somehow that it would be inappropriate for the United States government to engage in that activity, and I see it just precisely the opposite. I see our duty to engage in activity that ensures that we have fair, free elections.”
Inspector General Michael Atkinson just dispelled another conspiracy.
Quote:
Earlier this week, Atkinson pushed back against unsubstantiated allegations in conservative media outlets — and picked up in a tweet by the president — that the whistleblower submission form had been altered to enable complaints that were not based on firsthand knowledge. The whistleblower had acknowledged in the complaint not being “a direct witness” in most cases. In a statement posted online, Atkinson said the form has been in place since May 2018. There is no requirement in the law, he noted, that a complainant possess firsthand knowledge.

Trump and Giuliani are not just investigating the election, they are investigating Biden, that is missing from his statement. Giuliani was investigating 2016 election interference to defend his client, President Trump. Giuliani's Ukraine investigation took place during the Mueller investigation.
While investigating Ukrainian election interference, the Ukrainians also gave Giuliani evidence of Joe Biden's corruption.
1. the Ukrainians initiated contact.
2. Giuliani conducted his investigation during the Mueller investigation, long before Joe Biden announced he was running.
As to your question, Does Trump believe that it was Ukraine that was involved in our elections.
The Ukrainians have already prosecuted two of their government officials for interfering in the 2016 US election.
