This is what right-wing media like Fox News don't want people to know, and what me living in this city on a regular basis - many of the homeless are those escaping their hometowns somewhere in Middle America and being free (or so they say) in San Francisco. Many of them prefers to be homeless, and maybe proud of it. They travel around the country by train and they loves panhanding on the streets of big cities - New Orleans, Denver, Los Angeles, etc. They go where it's fun and San Francisco is one such places.

The point is - homelessness is a complicated issue that is MUCH MORE than just, "Hey them liberals don't take care of their cities." There are certainly people who are living here and lost their houses, but there are also people who come here just to sleep on the streets.

Three homeless - two from Illinois and one from Ohio.

People should stop giving the supposedly homeless money. Being homeless should not be a money making profession. Who knows how many aren't even homeless in reality.

Dude.

The Federal Court told ALL cities that they can't ban people from camping out on the streets, for the most part. That applies to ALL cities!!

Cities can’t criminalize homelessness, federal court affirms

Now, they can arrest people for shooting up drugs but most aren't dumb enough to do it in front of people, even if a small portion do.

In other words, they are basically mooching off of people at times?

You've always had runaways or people that can't cope with life situations so they run away from them. Actually your posting this then just proves the point that there is no reason to continue to support these people as they are able body Americans who could and should work to support themselves!

That’s from the 9th Circuit, hopefully the Supreme Court takes it on. No, the homeless should not be able to sleep wherever they want, such as on sidewalks. This ruling may end the concept of public parks for the rest of society, though.

My point from Day 1 has always been that these people are their own states' problem. Send them back to Middle America where many of them came from. CA should not be tapped with taking on other states' homeless.

And Red states need to stop being such craphole so these kids wouldn't have to run away, or at the very least, don't make them have to come all the way to SF just to get away from the large hole in the middle.

Also, it's NOT just kids! This 60+ yr old man last lived in Montana. He got evicted and decided what the heck, I'll go to California to hang out on the beaches and live on the streets.

Kamala should pack a small bag, grab her tent and go sleep with the homeless for 6 months.

Not anymore. Just like any other US citizen who decides to move to your state, once they do they are your state’s resident to take care of, just like they are your asset to tax. They are no longer whatever state they came from homeless, they are yours. Nice try, though.

Now, if you want to discuss non-citizens that is a different story.
