I'm thinking about adding these subforums. They would still be public but only party's supporters would be allowed to comment. Any comments or suggestions?
Surely, there are many who'd prefer voicing opinions in a forum wherein their positions will be applauded and go unchallenged. Adding "Only's" subforums promotes entrenchment and foments division - as if we didn't already have enough division in CD and this country.
Administrator, I like the idea this Politics and Controversies forum is a hot mess not much better than you gossip newsstand column at your grocery store newsstand. I'm thinking National Enquirer quality. I selectively scroll through and select about 2% of these threads to even bother to read.
I'll add a yes to the minority. I avoid this forum due the National Enquirer-type rants.
I'd like some calm, rational, intellectual discussions. Not hate-mongering and insult-flinging.

Great idea. At least we can have a thread with decency and not getting hijacked by bashers and haters.
If people want a discussion with the other side then we can all comment in other threads.
Ridiculous definition of censorship. The main forum would still be here, so your speech wouldn't be stifled anymore than it already was.
Quote:
Censorship is the suppression of speech, public communication, or other information, on the basis that such material is considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or "inconvenient". Censorship can be conducted by a government, private institutions, and corporations.
You're going to predicate participation in a forum on the basis of "acceptable" speech and eject anyone who violates your speech code. The fact that speech isn't censored elsewhere has no bearing on whether you're engaging in censorship.
I'd love to see the disappearance of the Politics and Other Controversies subforum`. It contributes nothing to discussion. Sometimes specific subfora have legal and political consequence that requirer discussion, but these are relegated to the zone of mindless anger. The few valuable posts are lost in this stream of anger. Those who only post on P&OC do not make any positive contribution either.

Nice idea, but it would not work. What brings most of us here is the interaction between us and them. We like to have healthy discussions between the two camps. Plus, no matter what fences you try to put up, you know Democrats are going to post on the Republican forum, and vice versa.
Please do it... I get tired of liberal trolls... And their fake news...
