You'd be amazed by how many people don't know how The United States works. They come here and don't learn about the nation. Sad.

Sure. Any or all of this could be correct.

But any or all of it could be completely false, too.

Schiff isn't doing the investigation alone. He has a full committee, with members of both parties, that are doing the job. All he's doing is managing the committee. A republican did his job before him, and another Republican may to the job after he leaves. They all bang the gavel following the same rules.

If it 'goes down in flames', that will be on the entire committee, not just Schiff.

But what does 'going down in flames' even mean?

If it means the committee can't find any valid reason for impeachment it has gone down in flames? No. It would be a victory for some, a defeat for others.

If the committee finds valid charges, wouldn't the victory and defeat still exist? They would only be reversed, but they wouldn't disappear.

The committee still exists to investigate, so it wouldn't just disappear and go away.
If the next investigation is not one for impeachment, it will still investigate the matter, whatever it is. Because they are all mandated to do it as a permanent committee.

No charges would delight about half of the House, and would distress the other half. But it would put an end to the matter.
Finding charges, presenting them to the full House and recommending that the Speaker demand a formal charge be brought to a vote would distress about half of the House and delight the other half.

So who goes down in flames? Isn't either equally serious?

Is the matter of impeachment so trivial it needs no investigation, or is it so serious that the investigation must be slow, careful, complete, and deliberated upon with utmost seriousness?

Either way, this is not a hoax. It is actually happening, it's for real, and it has serious consequences for both the people who are doing the job and for the citizens of our country.

Only a child would believe it's only a hoax. The committee has no children in it.

There's much more than just Trump's future at stake as well. Any way the impeachment goes will affect all our futures. We are all in this together.

Did you forget that the Republicans control the Senate?

So you are saying we should not excuse Trump but we excused Obama even though American lives were lost, see impeachable offenses above.

Are you this delusional?

I’m not the one who lacks a grade-school level understanding on the basics of American government.

I said no such thing about Obama, put your whataboutism back in the deck.

Let's call it what it is: "impeachment". The democratic house is investigating whether they should move forward with impeachment. The republican house chose not to bring up impeachment when Obama was in office. So if you want to say that the republicans chose to excuse Obama, then fine. But there's no point in arguing for impeachment of a former President. That's not how it works. Republicans were not for it when they could have taken action.

Not everyone is from America or even a native English speaking country. There's no need to be rude because Open-D is not proficient in English. You can ask for clarification more politely.
