I don't blame them. Shelters, not sidewalks, should be the sole legal option of the homeless.

It is not a question of "enough shelters." That is a canard of the left.

1. They come here from around the country in greater and greater numbers because of the generous treatment, tolerance of lawlessness, and good weather. If you built brand new, state of the art shelters for every homeless person, it would just be a magnet for more to come. And...

2. Most don't want to be in shelters, where there are rules, anyway They want to be out smoking dope, shooting H, drinking liquor, and doing as they please. This is not a problem of down-on-their-lucks who just need a hand up, it is a problem of criminals and addicts, with a significant portion of mentally ill, who, sadly, also don't want to be in shelters due to paranoia.

The backslash is not there yet. Next couple of election cycles, nothing will change. But in ten years or so, this is a purple state again. Any I never thought that I would say that.

The bolded. That's the main reason. When you give hand outs like you're Santa Claus, and don't help people UP, they can continue to be lazy, continue to do whatever they want, and tell all of their friends.

Hand up, not hand out.

In reality though, it has nothing to do with people being lazy and everything to do with the lack of a FEDERAL public safety net.

No state can take on the mental problems, addictions and social problems of the entire country. Thats why the oligarchy who fund elections love "state's rights". They are not stupid. They know it leads to a race to the bottom of worse public services, worse education and worse public health care as funding inevitably is slashed by states. The oligarchy dont need a public safety net. They dont want labor rights. They dont need public education or even insurance. They want an end to all of it. And they'll get it all unless the working class find the guts to stand up for themselves.

When you stop giving hand outs, the people won't come to your state.

Stop asking the government to provide these people with their lazy, selfish lifestyles.

If California is giving out handouts, then why are these people still homeless?

What exactly is California handing to these homeless, they cannot purchase a dwelling?

Are the homeless being giving candy bars and thats it?

In NYC we give people Sec 8, one shot deal, etc etc, so people can afford a place to live.

.
Baloney. I am in NYC daily, get approached by tons of bums, who want $$$$$ for nothing, so they can continue to be lazy bums.

I NEVER give any a penny if they approach by walking at a normal pace, as they just showed they are capable of physical work. They choose, their whole lives, to be bums.
