I find it kind of shocking that, if it were up to white Americans, every President during the last 50 years would have been a Republican. I didn't realize it had been that long.
Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama would have never gotten elected. The only reason they became President was because of the votes of minorities. It seems that whites have essentially abandoned the Democrat party at the national Presidential level and don't believe that Democrats represent their interests.
Is this the biggest cultural and political divide that we have in our nation today?

When being racist against blacks got more votes, Dims were racist against blacks and now that being racist against whites gets them more votes, they are now racist against whites....they are basically comparable to the Natinlaist Socialist of Germany in the 1930's.
You forgot white women, who are becoming more Democratic with every election.
Actually, the majority of white women voted for Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton. I find that very telling.
Why is it that the mainstream media rarely mentions that most white voters have been solidly conservative in Presidential elections over the last half century? Is there a reason this is not generally known?

Bill Clinton got 44% of the white vote in 1996. That was the highest percentage in the last 25 years.
Hillary Clinton only got 37% of the white vote in 2016. That is by far the lowest percentage in recent times.
My point is that there is a fundamental difference in the way that most whites view politics and the world compared to minorities. To deny this is to ignore an elephant in the room.

Dems realized this and have been pushing third worlders into this country in order to stay relevant. For 350 years this was a successful white country. Now it?s Brazil. Hopefully whites will wake up to the Great Replacement and act accordingly.
^^^^not so uncommon example of a Trump supporter's mindset here^^^^Thoae of us on the left often get accused of falsely accusing Trump supporters of being racist. And many of them are not. But there are enough examples of those who are and of Trump and the GOP pandering to these voters explain why people such as myself (a formerly Republican white man, btw) to have arrived at the point where I could never in good conscience vote for the GOP.
Btw the USA is still a hugely successful country.. Treating everybody with more respect has not killed us.
Why do minorities typically vote Democrat, especially African Americans? I?m glad you asked! It?s because they?re told to and for no other reason. No free thinking, no logic, just do what you?re told. Fact!
So minorities cannot think for themselves? They are just bots? It isn't because of the attitudes and policies of many (not all) on the right? As to why minorities tend to vote against the GOP, Lee Atwater nailed it.
Democrat politicians give whites a lot less free stuff, and make them out to be victims far less than they do minorities.
Minorities figure (correctly) that they can lose a lot more free stuff they have come to depend on if Democrats aren't elected. And they can lose the chance to be regarded as victims or underprivileged, thus losing the incentive for govt to give them more free stuff, if Democrats aren't elected. So they vote for Democrats more than whites do.
Whites, on the other hand, know that they are the ones whose tax money is going to pay for all the free stuff, while they don't get nearly as much free stuff back themselves. Many of them even realize (correctly) their money isn't being taxed for legitimate purposes (running government), but is being stolen and frittered away on free stuff that doesn't help the country at all, and merely buys votes for Democrat politicians.
Who can blame whites for not voting for Democrats?
Minorities only vote Democratic to get free stuff? None of them are paying taxes to support the safety net program? With attitudes like this toward minorities no wonder 90 plus percent of them vote Democratic! Many in the GOP think this way and minority voters know it.
For instance, most African-Americans are not poor and do not live in the inner city. Their support to the Dems reaches across all socioeconomic groups.

No, when liberal democrats decided to get behind the civil rights act and a democrat president signed it into law, conservative Dixiecrats had enough with their fellow party members and some switched, the republicans saw this opportunity and picked up a large voting bloc of angered white voters in the south. So I guess signing the civil rights act was racist towards whites? It seems like the republicans largely started to become the party of white reactionaries that were pissed that their country was changing.
