Please someone explain to me why I, who had nothing to do with slavery, my grandparents came long after slavery, must pay reparations to people who were not alive when slavery was legal?
And Finally IMHO..The United States has given enough. Race based set aside contracts, affirmative action, college admissions preferences, employment quotas, civil service quotas, and on and on and on. Time for everybody to start pulling their own weight

But the poll reveals a large divide between Americans of different racial and ethnic backgrounds.
Most black Americans, 74%, favor reparations, compared with 15% of white Americans. Among Hispanics, 44% favor reparations.
I can understand why so many Blacks support reparations. If you were told you could possibly receive a check for a small fortune would you oppose it? Given the fact that the majority of people do not equate "Government money" as coming for other taxpayers they probably do not see it as anything else than "Free Money".
I am not saying I support reparations; just saying I understand.
I'm impressed that 1 out of 4 blacks are opposed. Kudos to them.
Well that is a positive way to look at it. In addition to all the give aways to Illegal Aliens (free healthcare and free college education) Black reparations, etc., the Democrats also want to give LGBT reparations for Lord knows what. They are just trying to BUY VOTES with our money. Sick.
Just because a majority support reparation doesn't mean that same demographic believes it will come to fruition. Many of us still continue on working a 9-5 or what have you, supporting ourselves without government assistance, while deep down not necessarily in opposition of something that can elevate the whole.
Slavery reparations are dead on arrival, as they should be. Advocates would have a much better argument for reparations for victims of Jim Crow; there are still millions of Americans alive who faced official or government sanctioned discrimination and violence. Give them reparations. But, as usual, the left doesn't have their eye on the appropriate target.
Democrats have been stringing this along for decades. Everybody knows it will never happen, but appearing to keep an open mind to it is enough to assuage the willing dupes to continue to support them.

Why do you deserve freedoms, created by the sacrifices of peoples long before your family arrived here, that you had nothing to do with creating? Why did your ancestors not stay where they were and sacrifice to create the freedom that they came here to enjoy, which were from the sacrifices of others?
Ever think of it like that? What are you getting today, from the past, that you had nothing to do with creating?
