No but Florida does protect your homestead property from being taken by lawsuits. If he moves into Mar-A-Lago as his residence they can never take that from him.
True. But Trump has a lot more to worry about than a homestead.
In fairness (and this doesn't excuse any Trump wrongdoing), the foundation was formed in 2008 but didn't get the old rubber glove and vaseline treatment until 2016 when he became a political figure.
So yes, this is what happens when you run for political office, your opponents and the rest of the rival party tries to tear you apart and in Trumps case he has given them that opening. *shrug*
So let's not be coy and say that Trump is an innocent victim here, nor that this does not have political tones either.
If Trump were a bigtime dem donor instead, he may not have even been investigated by Cuomo or perhaps wrist slapped.
According to this, Trump and family used charity to advance his 2016 campaign.
According to this, Trump has admitted responsibility and the fine.
"Mr. Trump admits to personally misusing funds at the Trump Foundation, and agrees to restrictions on future charitable service and ongoing reporting to the Office of the Attorney General in the event he creates a new charity. The settlements also include mandatory training requirements for Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump. Finally, the settlements name the charities that will receive the remaining assets of the Trump Foundation as part of its dissolution."
President Donald Trump has been ordered by a New York State judge to pay $2 million to a group of nonprofit organizations as part of a settlement in a civil lawsuit stemming from persistent violations of state charities laws.
The two million must be paid by President Trump himself for breaching his fiduciary duty to properly oversee the foundation that bears his name.
"“persistently illegal conduct” at the Donald J. Trump Foundation, where Trump served as president for 32 years."
Think about it. This is only one example of 100's.
Yet there are actually human beings right here on C-D that can say with a straight face that he is a honorable person who can do the best possible job of running the country.
It's just another in a long line of criminal activities that is being uncovered by this president. It speaks to his character (or lack thereof) that he was stealing from his own charity:
"The lawsuit filed by the state's attorney general accused President Trump -- along with his children, Donald Jr., Eric and Ivanka -- of conflating charity with politics, repeatedly using charitable donations for personal, political and business gains, including legal settlements, campaign contributions and even to purchase a portrait of Trump to hang at one of his hotels."
I don't know... what does it say about the Clintons character (or lack thereof) when the Haitians claim they only received 1% or less of the 2010 earthquake relief - yet the South Koreans got a clothing factory built a hundred miles away from earthquake damage with help from the Clintons which was paid for into the Clinton Foundation?
I don't care.
As long as the wall is built, conservative jurists continue to be confirmed, and a Democrats does not sit in the Oval Office, then America will continue on the road to prosperity and greatness.
