Actually... impeachment is not a legal or criminal endeavor. No laws are required to be broken in order to impeach a president.
It is strictly a political undertaking... especially on the House side.

What this House is doing is painting the picture of a supposed crime that the public will view as an impeachable offense that would damage him (and not them) in the 2020 election. It does not matter whether or not Trump is guilty. Currently, I think impeachment would damage House Dems more... so they have more dramatics and theater that needs to be done.

The process is not just what congress does... it's what the entire legislative branch does and that includes the senate.
You can be arrested for anything, that would be the equivalent of impeachment, but ultimately you must then be charged and tried, that is the senates part, that would be the equivalent of district attorney.... that is due process. The senate will most likely dismiss the charges.
Right now we have a congress who is acting like police, judge and jury, or as we call it a kangaroo court. In fact, Adam Schiff is acting like Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane from the Dukes of Hazard.

Dem's need to stop the cow manure stench Schiff knew exactly what he was doing and hoped his brain-washed Liberal viewers would believe what he had to say.
So, I guess it would be okay with Dem's, if a co-worker, standing up in front of 200 employees at work and said that a particular coworker has AIDS and had spread it half way across the city, then later said he was "just kidding" That would be okay with Dem's?
The goal, and you know it, was to hurt Trump. The goal was also to hurt the coworker. And then later retract the statement but hoping it stuck, like a fly on the wall.
A 'misdemeanor' means a wrongdoing; an unethical act. Thus it's a valid behavior for articles of impeachment under the constitution, even if no law was actually broken. That being said, this type of egregious misuse of power should be a crime, if it isn't already.
If the shoe was on the other foot, Republicans would be screaming to the heavens for justice.
So, "High Crimes and Misdemeanors" can be defined however the opposing party wants them to be?
An impeachment is not a legal proceeding - not even the "trial" in the Senate. Of course there's no guarantee of "due process". That only applies to judicial matters.
Then don't try to make it look like a legal proceeding. It's meaningless. Quit wasting our time with your taxpayer-funded, 3-year long, temper tantrum.
