If Trump pardons Roger Stone, it will be political suicide. I truly think that it would be a turning point to where some Republican lawmakers say "I can't do this anymore" and split from Trump.
He doesn't understand anything about the position.

His presidency would already be over if Don McGahn hadn't refused his order to fire Mueller.

If you say so.

If there has been anyone on this board who has been more routinely and consistently wrong than you about all of this stuff, I am not sure who that could possibly be.

I don't know. I didn't vote.

On the one hand, anything Trump does is criticized into oblivion, so he shouldn't do it.

On the other hand, anything Trump does is criticized into oblivion, so why not do it if he thinks its the right thing to do.

If he thinks its the right thing to do, it would probably be smart to wait for the outcome of this current process to see if he will end up facing going through the impeachment process or not.

seriously, what do you think is going to be gained from this petition? do you think trump is unaware of stone's conviction and/or his ability to pardon?

if stone is pardoned then he loses his 5th amendment rights on the issues he was pardoned on. he's most likely be subpoenaed again and required to give testimony that, in his own words, would "hurt" trump.

If the Stone pardon petition gets 100,000 signatures in 30 days, Trump may well pardon Stone by public acclimation. It will be an act of concession and mercy by Trump. Politically, it will provide him with a good deal of cover from his critics on this, not that he should or will really care very much about what those people think.

TDS.

He could get 100k sycophants who would accept murder on 5th Avenue to sign a petition.

Pardoning stone would only serve to further illustrate his criminality and similarity to a mob boss in the way he operates. And it would further demonstrate his belief that he is above the law.

Drama queen Stone said he fears he will be “Epsteined ” in prison.

That does not jive well with Trump’s AG, who agrees with the conclusion of the first autopsy- Suicide.

Perhaps a more appropriate and certainly cheaper, consequence would be denial of his freedom of speech. No more interviews, commentary, public remarks, articles, books, social media, lobbying, etc. just shut the fudge up and go away.

you really believe that?

so if another petition, asking trump to keep stone in jail, gets 100,000 signatures in 30 days ...... what happens then?

To understand who Trump will pardon, just ask if Trump grants the pardon will it advance the interests of the Trump syndicate.

Stone just got convicted....he hasn't been sentenced....we don't know what his sentence will be...….he can still appeal his conviction.I don't see anything being done until the whole process is completed.
