He may say so, but I doubt he will ever actually testify in front of the committee.
That's extremely risky for him in all kinds of ways.
It's far more likely he will testify in a deposition to written questions instead. Considering the separation of powers, I'm sure the Committee would allow that. It also has precedent, as Clinton was deposed without ever appearing.
He won't even allow his own lackeys to testify because he's so terrified about what they will reveal.
He will never testify.
Saying that, I don't know what difference it would make. Republicans have decided that this President is above the law so he shouldn't be afraid to testify, because even if he stated live on TV under oath that he was being paid directly by Putin, they'd still give him a free pass.
If there was any fairness in these Soviet-style proceedings it would be a different story, but with Adam Schiff running this failure of a clown show there is little to no chance the president would ever show up. Why should he? It's not like he'd ever get a chance to say anything before Schiff cut him off.
Schiff could be in for days and days of questioning by the Republicans in the Senate. This trial could last for months during campaign season. Tough times ahead for the Senate candidates.
Trump will be a no show, just like he ordered all of his puppets to do. He knows it would be suicide for him, and he does have some survival skills, if nothing else.
