Nah, you're just making up rationalizations to justify your nativist leanings to the public. Not buying that at all.

You can keep going to your CIS meetings, or join the real world and learn to accept others who don't look like you.

FYI, per-country cap for green card is going to be removed. Millions of Indians on backlog will become citizens and be able to vote pretty soon.

Deal on Backlog for Workers’ Green Cards Could Clear Way for Senate Vote
Under a compromise, the per-country cap system would be phased out and new restrictions placed on the H-1B high-skilled visa program

What about married couples where one is a citizen and the other is a legal immigrant? They are expected to live apart?

Chances are many of these countries would have been successful had the U.S. government not used its military and economic policies to overthrow and cripple democracy throughout Latin America in favor of America-friendly leaders (dictators).

I also think it's interesting that you equate American culture with success...ignoring the fact that many countries in Europe and East Asia have now surpassed us in most quality of life measures.

American culture (consumerism) is destroying the planet and our country...and also making us fatter. Any "success" that comes from America, such as innovation or being the world's bread basket, is built on the backs of immigrants. Some evangelical hick in South Carolina does nothing to contribute to the success of this country. All those immigrants in Silicon Valley? Making the U.S. the most powerful economic and cultural force of the 21st century.

Ultimately, our strength is in immigration. Attracting the most driven and ambitious people from around the world. People who will stop at nothing to achieve their dreams of a better life. That's the part of American culture that is a "success".

i am a big fan of Tim Poole, whom if you are not familiar is a moderate(god forbid) democrat journalist who you can find doing youtube videos. He has a theory about this that says Democrats may regret what they are wishing for because although new Immigrants, especially from South of the Border will most likely vote Democrat they are historically very conservative people, especially when it comes to Abortion and traditional family values. They just also support more social programs. So in years to come as they become more powerful you could find the Democratic Party becoming much more conservative while still supporting Social Programs but dropping support for things like Abortion rights.

Why is this surprising?

The GOP has pretty much become a white nativist party under Trump. They can't stand diversity.

You must be joking or are completely delusional.

What, we don't have enough Americans with the same drives and ambitions? We have to import foreigners for that? Our strength is mostly with our fellow Americans whom we already share a common culture with. I don't consider immigration to be a particular strength anymore. The times and our needs have changed from the past.
