Do you get more or less corruption with a less regulated economic system?

Free markets result in corruption that isn't institutional.

Socialism results in official corruption which nobody can avoid.

Corruption is an independent variable of any economy system... It exists and could care less what economy system you have....

Do Free Markets Mean Less Corruption?

That's like asking if freedom means less crime.

If the "freedom" includes a government that tries hard to prosecute crime ("crime" defined as people trying to violate your rights), then free markets do result in a lot less corruption. Because government spends a lot less of its time trying to make you fill out tons of unnecessary paperwork and pay unnecessary taxes, leaving them free to do what they should have been doing all along: Putting criminals and the corrupt in jail.

But if govt stays out of the way of honest people making their livings ("Free Markets"), and also slacks off on punishing corrupt individuals, criminals etc., then the criminals, fraudsters, and corrupt con men will run wild and you'll probably have more corruption, not less.

Some people have the odd view that "free Markets" mean government no longer tries to catch and prosecute people who violate your rights. With such strange delusions, it's no wonder that these naive individuals think that "Free Markets" lead to more corruption.

Not much different from thinking that "freedom" leads to more crime because government stops trying to catch and prosecute burglars, murderers, rapists, blue-and white-collar criminals etc.

In fact, to promote "freedom", governments must spend lots of resources trying to keep people from violating your rights... while staying out of the faces of normal people leading honest lives and doing honest work. The same holds true for "Free Markets".

How can you make and keep money in a free market without being honest and ethical?

The free market automatically weeds out the bad apples. Just look at Amazon and eBay sellers. If anybody get a rating less than 98%, nobody would buy from them.

Well, don't forget there are tons of ratings that are manipulated. I bet some of those 100% to 98% sellers would really have 50-70% ratings if not manipulated.

Gee I don't know, ask the mafia or any street gang, or any criminal.

We don't have free markets anyway.
