The reasons the suburbs have turned Blue is that people continue to move out of Democrat controlled, inner city Hell Holes to escape the crime, violence, higher taxes and filth, then bring their voting habits that created all that with them. It's called INSANITY.
Were you born in 1990 or something? Anyone that is paying attention knows there has been a dramatic re-urbanization of our cities and a major drop in crime over the past 30 years in most big cities. All of the above, along with major nodes of high paying jobs, have made these cities extremely popular places to live.
This article is a few years old but is from a retail strategist discussing the re-population of urban areas, etc.
Now, it could be that some inner-city residents are leaving expensive urban areas for cheaper burbs elsewhere. But that is a function of capitalism and freedom, not some blue conspiracy to ruin cities.
Young liberals tend to grow conservative once they have families and become more responsible.
The old folks you're talking about were teenagers in the 60's and quite liberal back then.
This is a known fallacy. People do not tend to change their political leanings with age.

We live in a suburb city, and have watched the pace pick up on our older conservative neighbors heading off to assisted living facilities or the funeral home.
Our new neighbors tend to be younger families that are far more liberal.
sorry, bad news.
Boomers will expand the number of older adults as they age. Starting in 2030, when all boomers will be older than 65, older Americans will make up 21 percent of the population, up from 15 percent today.
By 2060, nearly one in four Americans will be 65 years and older, the number of 85-plus will triple, and the country will add a half million centenarians.
people tend to become more conservative when they grow older....
It's a natural evolution as much as anything being that many if not most suburban communities surrounding a city have large numbers of ex city dwellers who migrated out of the city only changing their geography, not politics. Although once they get hit with suburban tax bills and issues in many towns their politics will change.
It’s not that people become more conservative as they age. It’s the nation becomes more liberal and they stay the same.
In the long run liberals nearly always win.
True. You can't fight progress, though old Conservatives continue to try. But time marches forward, leaving Conservatives wallowing in the past. Thus it is and thus it always was. Progressives are on the cutting edge of society, leading the way forward.

Prove it. The suburbs that ring the city in my area are overwhelmingly democrat. I live in the outer ring suburbs, that were once a republican stronghold, but starting in 2008 they switched to a strong democratic leaning. The thing is with urbanization typically comes more liberal attitudes in general. The best ways republicans can fight this is to fight the progress of increasing urbanization and the increasing access to education.
The suburbs in my area has seen increases on tax bills as they experience greater growth, although they do a good job at attracting large commercial interests, yet I haven't noticed any buck from the trend that they are getting more liberal as the years go by. My congressional district just booted out the incumbent republican in the mid terms, even though my congressional district expands into more rural spaces. I have yet to see anything indicating that this change in the politics of the suburbs is on the decline.
Voters in their 70's, and 80's started voting when homosexuality and abortion were illegal, being openly racist was common, ... Naturally, they tend to hang on to those attitudes as they age.
Younger voters have grown up in more liberal environments.
Also, younger voters tend to have more education, which, as many conservatives lament, often makes one more open to things like scientific proof, truth, and so forth.
While certainly attitudes may change over time, for the most people are who they are as they age.
I notice at my high school reunions that those who were liberal when they were younger tend to still be liberal as they grow older. Ditto with the conservatives.

And some of their successes would include the USSR, China, NK and Cuba.
