According to this article in Politico it could happen:

Quote:
according to current Senate procedure, McConnell will still need a simple majority—51 of the 53 Senate Republicans—to support any resolution outlining rules governing the trial. That means that if only three Republican senators were to break from the caucus, they could block any rule they didn’t like. (Vice President Mike Pence can’t break ties in impeachment matters.) Those three senators, in turn, could demand a secret ballot and condition their approval of the rest of the rules on getting one.

With a secret ballot do you think Republicans would turn on Trump? Could 3 senators insist on a secret ballot? Romney might. Collins in Maine maybe. Lisa Murkowskiof Alaska and Cory Gardnerof Colorado could also.

please, no. Republicans know there are no Dems who can beat Trump in the election and Pence would very likely lose. Now if the Dems waited until Trump won the election then Impeached mayby then they might go along with your idea as Pence would be President for most of a full term given the Republicans the best of both Worlds.

Try to explain an impeachment to the voters after they just re-elected him. Democrats would never win another election.

There might be enough GOP senators who believe they could get their way more if the interloper was removed.

If they did vote yes, it would be because they don't like him.

There is zero evidence Trump broke a law.

Do you want the house and senate to start selecting the POTUS from now on without an election?

as much as I love to see the (worthless) federal govt completely break down, we are inching ever closer to presidential elections meaning nothing. we already only get about 1/3 of the population voting and half of the idiots believe Russia controls the voting machines

Dems, do yourself a favor, stop with this nonsense.

Under no circumstances is President Trump going to be removed from office.
