Some people are urging Pelosi to have the impeachment vote in the House but to not send the articles to the Senate if McConnell refuses to hold a trial with witnesses. Trump would remain impeached forever and never exonerated by the Senate. He could never crow about being found not guilty.

I think she should do it. McConnell does not want a fair trial presumably because he knows Bolton will sink Trump. If Trump is not guilty he should welcome an open fair trail not a whitewash.

McConnell will hold a trial. Democrats won’t like the outcome, but Trump has a right to a trial, and McConnell should be given the opportunity to do the right thing.

If Pelosi went along with that nonsense, she’d be complicit in what I see as anti-Trump subterfuge, and she should be above such nonsense as the Speaker. We don’t have the presidency or the Senate, and we should keep in mind as liberals that elections have consequences and live with the Senate’s outcome even if we don’t like it. Trump should have his opportunity in a trial. It’s only right.

I don’t want anything to do with any stupidity that doesn’t see Pelosi sending the Articles over to the Senate. It’s UnAmerican. Do the right thing.

That farce of the railroad job the Democrats gave Trump in the House mean the Republicans are going to return the favor...how life works.

The kangaroo court, circus style hearings the Democrats ran was pure political theater.

Now for Democrats to whine that they want a "fair Senate trial" is hypocritical and just pure comedy.

The Republicans should crush the sham this impeachment truly is, quickly and efficiently.

Democrats have already shown the public they are strategically impaired by moving forward with impeachment in general, so I'm sure they are being shown political mercy by Republicans, having this embarrassing sham over with somewhat fast.

There is no stalemate. Whether they fail to impeach, impeach and don't send it to the Senate or send it to the Senate... these are all bad options. If you want my honest opinion if Pelosi had the chance to just make this go away she would.

In fact this may be worst idea. The House proceedings are the equivalent of public Grand Jury. You are going to accuse someone of a crime by presenting the evidence you pick and choose, indict them and then decline to prosecute? LOL

Good luck with that.

Right McConnell is refusing to prosecute and just 100% align themselves with the defendant. An outrageous dereliction of duty.

Any Speaker of the House should wish an impeachment would “go away.” No Speaker relishes it. It’s far too much work maintaining a caucus during an impeachment process, especially when a president is as unapologetic, immature and bombastic as Trump is.

But Pelosi wouldn’t be doing her job if she shirked her responsibilities as the Speaker. She can’t let a president barter American aid for personal gain. Taking the macro view makes Pelosi’s job unavoidable.

Besides, folks need to quit making this about Pelosi. She’s not the whistleblower, nor is she the Inspector General. Trump’s own people tatted him out to the IG, and Pelosi can’t be blamed for that.

One of these days, Trump will have to take responsibility for his own behavior and quit blaming others.

My opinion that she wishes it would go away would be based on the political implications for her own party. Theyh ave dug themselves a hole and no way to get out of it. The idea that they vote to impeach and then not send it to the Senate is yet another example of it.
