And it comes straight from a publication owned by one of the democratic candidates.
I guess nobody can complain about the source.
Uh oh...

A president who has been genuinely impeached must constitutionally have the opportunity to defend himself before the Senate. That’s built into the constitutional logic of impeachment, which demands a trial before removal.
To be sure, if the House just never sends its articles of impeachment to the Senate, there can be no trial there. That’s what the “sole power to impeach” means.
But if the House never sends the articles, then Trump could say with strong justification that he was never actually impeached. And that’s probably not the message Congressional Democrats are hoping to send.
I wonder how all those Democrats in Trump districts are reacting... If Pelosi never intended to impeach Trump, wouldn't it be better they voted against impeachment and it never getting to the Senate... Oppss
At this point, good faith negotiations by both sides will get this done. If either side is going to stone wall, then we wait.
I thought the reason this had to be rushed through the House was because it couldn't wait.....Now the Speaker might decide to not impeach the president at all despite having the vote? Kind of odd, don't you think?
It's plain that this whole sham was just a partisan effort at a coup. If the 'crats don't send this to the Senate, it shows that they weren't serious about "the law."
So does that mean democrats in the house can hold up the trial in the senate until after the next election?
In theory, they could decide to not impeach the president before the election....but in doing so, they'll be admitting that it's just a cynical political ploy which would lead to even more of them losing their seats in the upcoming election.
