The problem Rs have is that there is a constituency for every single government program. And if you want to save a significant amount of money, you're going to have to cut deep into popular programs - that's simply where the money is.

Most of us who support, say, our local fire departments, are good with making sure that their budgets keep up with expenses.
I think there are places to cut that aren't especially popular...such as giving foreign aid to countries that hate us. Also I think Republicans should cut programs that are popular with Democrats but not Republicans. Things like Section 8 vouchers for example.

Wow, I finally agree with you on something. Now if we could just solve it. The interest on the debt has already become a real issue.

Trump was my 3rd choice. Cruz was at the top of my list. I knew Trump wasn't a Conservative when I voted for him. I knew he was a populist, so I'm getting what I voted for. Still better than Hillary. So, yes I'm disappointed, but not a bit surprised.

Trump is winning right now (impeachment w/o removal means nothing), and he doesn't want to rock the boat 11 months prior to an election that he should win. The 'Pubs also have a chance to flip the House, so keeping the status quo is critical.

He's like a PGA golfer that has a 3 shot lead with 2 holes to play...playing it safe.

If he's re-elected, and the 'Pub retake the house, they'll adopt the Penny plan to address the deficit. I think that is the end game.

Deficits were decreasing under President Obama. Republicans gained power and the deficits have exploded. Check out the graph.

"It's the economy stupid". No President is going to propose austerity because they know it will tank the economy. Our economy is now totally dependent upon ever increasing level of debt.....government debt, consumer debt, business debt, etc. Try reducing that and see what happens to GDP.

You mean like in all 8 years Obama was in office? Yes, we were disappointed then too. While Trump has delivered on more of his campaign promises than nearly any president in history, he has fallen short on managing the budget.
