Looking at a previous thread, Felt this was a good follow up to it.
Is it better to be around the same race? Or like minded people? For example, a geoup of people who enjoy cars or gaming, or music. But you might be a minority in terms of race within that group.

Like minded would be my first choice. But that is both good and bad. On the good news side you are around people that share your same beliefs, but on the bad side you are not exposed to new or different ideas.

But to be around people of different beliefs or ways of thinking also requires an increase in patience and tolerance. As those different idea's my be very different, and not to your liking at all.

I live right next door to the Ute and Navajo Nations and I'm a white girl. I enjoy being around people of different cultures - I find it very interesting. Also, many of my Anglo neighbors in my rural part of the world are conservatives while I'm anything but. Some of my neighbors are unable to discuss politics without flying off the handle, so I just talk about the weather with them. A few are more reasonable and I like getting their take on things. It's amazing how well we can all get along if we just treat one another like human beings. Sure, I could move to the city and be among more of my own kind, but I'd have to give up on all sorts of other things that are important to me.

I feel sorry for those who are so insecure that they can only exist in a community of like-minded people. How boring! Plus, I can't help but feel that this huge cultural divide our Country is going through is bad for the Nation and bad for us both as a people and as individuals.

i dont care about race, and i dont care if others have different hobbies from me. what i want to be around is decent overall people, who are willing to help their neighbors regardless of skin color, politics, or other trivial matters.

I'd rather live around people who have the same core values I have. Nothing else matters, as far as I'm concerned.

Why do you need to compete with your neighbor?

Why do you care if a neighbor is sedentary?
