Why do people sacrifice their lives for your Freedom & Liberties, you can abort yourself at anytime.
People playing GOD. Or has the evil of Satan's sacrifice of the defenseless taken over?
Here in the USA, everyone has a right to LIFE, liberty and property, to pursue their own happiness.
It is what established our government, to secure and protect those rights.
No...you can't abort yourself at any time. Once your born you have no choice but to live the many years it takes to reach adulthood, and it won't be until than that you'll be skilled enough at understanding the long term consequences of your actions that it'll semi-reasonable for society to perceive your suicide as acceptable. That means potentially 20 years or so living a live you had no input into whether or not you wanted to live. Now...a fetus won't understand its existence. It will not understand death. It might feel pain or some unpleasant sensation in the later stages, but about 91% of abortions occur during the first trimester and often times genetic disorders and such aren't able to be found until well into the second trimester, and sometimes later.
If an organism does not understand death, does not feel it, and cannot fear it, death is not a negative thing for that organism. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has this to say about it:
A human fetus does not have the capacity to experience pain until after viability. Rigorous scientific studies have found that the connections necessary to transmit signals from peripheral sensory nerves to the brain, as well as the brain structures necessary to process those signals, do not develop until at least 24 weeks of gestation.i Because it lacks these connections and structures, the fetus does not even have the physiological capacity to perceive pain until at least 24 weeks of gestation.
In fact, the perception of pain requires more than just the mechanical transmission and reception of signals. Pain is “an emotional and psychological experience that requires conscious recognition of a noxious stimulus.”ii This capacity does not develop until the third trimester at the earliest, well past the period between 20 weeks and viability. The evidence shows that the neural circuitry necessary to distinguish touch from painful touch does not, in fact, develop until late in the third trimester. The occurrence of intrauterine fetal movement is not an indication that a fetus can feel pain. https://www.acog.org/-/media/Departm...tFetalPain.pdf
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in the U.K. has similar findings.
So...as you can see...you are personifying organisms in a way that might not be for their best interests.
All legal and cultural indicators tell me that a person isn't a person until they are actually born. With that said, I am against abortion after 5 months if the health of the mother isn't in danger due to the reasons Clintone stated.
I'm fine with abortion as long as it is not done with the taxpayer dime, and the majority of women who elect to are liberals.
