I don't defend Iran's govt but how are they worse than Saudi Arabia? Why befriend one and hate the other? Because an embassy was stormed in 1979 with zero American deaths?
Iran has maybe the most educated and moderate population of any Muslim majority nation. I hope we don't go to war with them and turn those people into hardened Islamists.
You apparently didn’t mention why Iran offers such service. Just how tolerant are they of homosexuals? They rather chop off a person’s genitals and have them conform to their heterosexual beliefs.
LoL, "second highest number of Jews in the ME" - current estimates are well under 10K or about 0.01% of the population of Iran is Jewish. They are real tolerant in Iran, it is currently illegal to hold Christian or Jewish church services in the local language, Farsi.
So does every country need to be like liberal dumps, NYC or California, or hand out boat loads of FMF to the certain states, for reasons I wont go into, in order to be considered tolerant? If so then maybe is better to be opposite.

The costs of not implementing this strategy are clear. Failure to meet our defense objectives will result in decreasing U.S. global influence, eroding cohesion among allies and partners, and reduced access to markets that will contribute to a decline in our prosperity and standard of living.
I took the liberty of high-lighting the relevant part for the not-too-bright and the non-starters.
That, is the sole issue.
I'm not making any judgments or saying government is right or wrong, I'm just saying if that is what you believe, and your government most certainly believes it, then you must initiate conflict with Iran.
You have no choice.
You cannot control the 5 Central Asian States without controlling Iran.
That was already proven. Clinton had control of the 5 Central Asian States but lost control because the US cannot push its hegemony on the 5 Central Asian States without controlling Iran.
Control of Iran is an absolute necessity.
You can post all the Useless Tube videos you want, but it will not change a goddam thing.
Whether you elect a Democrat, Republican, Green Party candidate, Libertarian, Communist, Socialist or whatever, makes no difference. When the opportunity presents itself, you will be there.
And, don't be shocked if there's another "terrorist" attack to impel Americans to support it.
Who is stupid enough to go fight this next war? Our servicemen are not paid enough. I hope there is a mutiny or a coup if we declare war again so soon.
I do not see any evidence of our control over central Asia having diminished from whatever level it was under whoever. If anyone threatening that "control" is definitely China. We already in Afghanistan. Pakistan is not stopping that. So we have our access to the region. Plus, what that region even offer USA that we cannot obtain cheaper elsewhere?
Prosperity and standard of living for 90% of Americans is more affected by growing wealth disparity domestically. More wars will just increase that disparity.
Iran is the number one exporter of terrorism. Destabilizing the ME is what they do. Makes them an enemy.
They sponsor Hezbollah. Hezbollah only exist thanks to Israel. Israel the original destabilizer for the last few decades.

Most Jewish Persian people were among the elite and aligned with the last Shah, puppet dictator. They left with the Shah and resettled in Israel and the US.
Most of those who did not relocate could not afford to do so.
There are 60-70 synagogues in Iran, dependent on source. There are Hebrew Schools, cenetaries, I kosher grocers/ restaurants and a library.
None of the above exists in Saudi Arabia, US ally.
So true! Jews used to number close to a million in the ME - in Iran and the Arab countries - about 80 years ago, but they were all driven out by Muslims who then confiscated their land and property. Never hear much about that, though.
Jews were brought to Iran as slaves 1400 years before Islam.
The majority of Jewish people evolved into the elite and aligned with the last Shah, puppet dictator, installed by the US when it achieves a coup of the democratically elected Prime Minister. That PM sought a secular government with a strong emphasis on nationalizing their oil production and export instead of allowing BP to give them cents on the $.
Most of the ME is substantially safer than anywhere in the US. They don’t take kindly to recreational drug trafficking/ use. The Saudis ban alcohol. Something about public beheadings, sometimes followed by public crucification of the beheaded corpse, seems to encourage the masses to obey, especially in SA.

Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Wahhabism, Al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden and 19 of the 911 terrorists, is the number one exporter of terrorism. Iran is no more a threat to the U.S. than Iraq was.
More than a dozen Saudi servicemen training at US military installations will be expelled from the United States after a review that followed the deadly shooting last month at a Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida, multiple sources told CNN.
The Saudis are not accused of aiding the 21-year-old Saudi Air Force second lieutenant who killed three American sailors in the December shooting, two sources said, but some are said to have connections to extremist movements, according to a person familiar with the situation.
