She was teaching history the way it was. Snowflakes are outraged that history wasn’t revised and were triggered.
Yeah, they should remake “Roots” with an all white cast to avoid hurting the delicate sensibilities of the ‘woke’ crowd. They should also have only females...No! Transgender ‘females’. Will they stop b*tching then?
These people are lunatics to get upset about a play.
Honest question. What would you think about having a slave trader in the play, but not having anyone in the role of the slave? So not ignoring that slaves were a part of trade during that time period, but not making any kid play the part. I’d have a problem with it, too, if I were in those parents’ shoes.
Simply put, I don’t believe there should be ANY plays depicting slavery unless you can show all aspects of it including the language and brutality. No school can do that so don’t do it at all.

So can we have a school play where we march the Jewish kids into the gas chambers?

Some Vikings may have been Black, but perhaps not enough to really depict them as Black without Blackwashing history.
Whether they were Black or White, I'm guessing most White people would not be ok with their 10 yr old daughters coming home to report they were cast as rape victims in the school play about marauding/pillaging/raping Vikings lol.
Indeed. You can’t do a play about that topic in school....period. Leave it alone just discuss it. That’s all.
Hollywood can’t even get it right without screwing it up. 12 Years A Slave was the FIRST time it was ever properly depicted. All the other films were a whitewash. Roots included.
If a play or movie about slavery doesn’t leave you sick in absolute shock and horror at the violence, brutality, nihilism and carnage, it was done halfass.
12 Years A Slave left me angry and damn near traumatized. If it didn’t have that effect on a person, then they ain’t human.
Bingo. I guess black folks are suppose to put up with things that white folks would never stand for.
Unless you can realistically depict slavery, you shouldn’t depict it in a school play. School plays HAVE to whitewash it because they can’t depict beatings, rape, torture and the selling away of children and family members.
Black people do not have the right to control the narrative on how our history is taught regarding slavery. Black people do not have the right to silence those who they find offensive either. History is what it is, this play was depicting the existence of slavery. The fact that any rapes, torture etc is removed from it because we are dealing with young children is irrelevant. It is also worth reminding you that rapes, beatings and torture were not as common as SJWs often suggest it was. Smart people don’t intentionally destroy and harm their own property. Also many slave owners saw themselves as patriarchs of the plantation. Many of them cared for their slaves as members of their own family. I am not defending slavery but the activist SJW types have an agenda against white people and depicting all slave owners as cruel administrators of beatings and rapes serves their agenda. They can provide no evidence however that the type of cruelty they describe was the norm. History suggests that while it happened it was not the norm.

Oh really? So the slaves mostly were just singing along, happy to provide free labor? Come on. There is no other way to force people to be slaves except to be brutal.
