Yes that's exactly how it works. The President controls troop movements and can bring them home at any time.

Oh well then America can wash the blood off their hands, right?

Local government officials and members of the Herat provincial council told Tolo News, Afghanistan’s leading 24/7 television news channel, that "at least 60 civilians, including women and children" died in US drone strikes in Shindand, a town in southern Herat. The outlet reported that four armed drones attacked several homes, targeting Mullah Mohammad Nangyalai, the regional leader of an insurgent faction of the Taliban led by Mullah Mohammad Rasoul. Some 30-35 Taliban fighters were also reportedly killed in the attack.

The US military newspaper Stars & Stripes reports Pentagon and Afghan government officials confirmed the strikes occurred. …. The military did not comment on the alleged civilian casualties.

Our "industrial military complex" and our "forever wars" are out of control.

Both political parties are to blame. Hold both parties accountable!
Restrictive Oversight

Sound good or bad? lol

Skip ahead to 4:00 for a 15 second setup of the lack of oversight by Massie, then 3 minutes from John Sopko, Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR)
Listen to his words and the frustration. This is 3 minutes of intelligent feedback from a professional.

"We shouldn't spend a dime, if we can't track a dime."

Seems like foreign aid money, no matter which country is getting it, is a bad risk.

Never going to happen. No one will be held accountable, never have been. Hell, the captain of the ship that shot down the Iranian airliner filled with civilians was given a medal. Stop? There's way too much money being made.

Ask yourself: What country was the victim of an unprovoked attack in 2001.....?

I hate to have to explain it to you, but do you see the connection...?

Some 30-35 Taliban fighters were killed in the attack. That's good news...right?

Gotta wonder: what the heck were civilians doing hanging around Taliban fighters...? If they were so close that they became collateral damage..........were they supporters? Family? More Taliban?

If they were actually 'innocent' civilians, then too bad, but maybe it'll teach them to stop hanging out with the Taliban. I mean, there's no way the Taliban would hold hostages to try and avoid being bombed, right...?

Would you be okay with the other side killing high ranking American fighters in their homes and while shopping at the mall . . . along with 60 or so women and children?

Apparently, when the Taliban in charge in the 90s, they oppressed the opium farmers, and thus the narco industry of the Golden Crescent as they called it.

But there was still the Golden Triangle, and Latin America. Narcotics still around. Afghanistan can be easily replaced.

Unprovoked??? Unprovoked??? Our government has been invading and occupying sovereign nations and murdering innocents for decades. It was the exact opposite of unprovoked. It was a retaliation. The only question is what took them so long?

I think the U.S. is setting a record for the most consecutive days of f**k-ups.

A military force killing innocents, no matter who or where or how, is INEXCUSABLE!!

Just imagine the outcry if it had happened here!

I think we should get the hell out of the Middle East. In my opinion, we should never have interfered with their politics in the first place, except for supporting Israel at least when that country was first started.
