This is a good thing to remember because often we only think of the present, but not the precedent.

Unfortunately, I fear we're already headed toward this when so many people these days don't trust the traditional news sources.

It’s the Constitution, Stupid
To forgo impeachment would be tantamount to saying that our president is now a king

By Thomas Friedman

If we say, as Republicans do, that what Trump did is not an impeachable offense, we are telling ourselves and every future president — in direct contradiction of what the founders wrote in the Constitution — that it is OK to enlist a foreign power to tilt the election your way. Can you imagine how much money candidates could raise from Saudi Arabia or China to tilt a future election their way, or how many cyberwarriors they could enlist from Russia or Iran to create fake news, suppress voting or spur outrage?

The integrity of our elections would be shattered, and we would never again have a legitimate president — a president, who, whether or not you liked him or her, was at least seen as legitimately elected. That would be a prescription for permanent political chaos, as no future presidents’ authority would be respected if they were elected on the basis of foreign interference.

Trump landslide 2020

That is the fallout.

Blame the arrogant house Dems.

I wish they had a clue how much could have been accomplished if they had worked with Trump, exactly as they ran on in 2018.

I'm glad he is being acquitted because this whole deal was an attempt to hijack the Republic by the Dem led house.

Shifty should be impeached.

So now the collusion delusion and the Ukraine brain sprain lines have now been blurred?

First there was collusion. Which was found wanting.

Then the Ukraine brain sprain. Which apparently didn’t happen.

So which of the two was the impeachment about?

According to this opinion piece, it was multiple choice.

No amount of propaganda with cover over the fact that the democrats engaged in the must partisan, rushed, unjust, and deficient impeachment in US history.

Why should the Democrats work with tRump when they don't agree with his legislative directive and neither do their voters?

Before you start imagining a landslide, keep in mind that Hillary had 2% MORE of the vote.

This is incredibly stupid.

The same people who opposed impeachment and removal of a president guilty of multiple felonies are now claiming that if the president is not removed despite committing no crime, it means he's a king.

Never go full partisan hack.

Keep in mind that Trump won the popular vote in 50% more states than Hillary including ALL Obama battleground states.

He'll expand the map in 2020.
