Over 200,000 people follow it on Facebook. I was raised fundamentalist Baptist and in the social media era, articles from Charisma were shared all the time.
It's very influential.
200,000 is not a lot. No matter how many times you repeat the same claim, it isn't true, Charisma magazine is neither prominent or influential beyond a few hundred thousand 'charismatic' (no even sure what that means) Christians.
Yes, the Christian Right is actually going there. Chrisma Magazine is very influential in Christian conservative circles.
It's ironic that the author of the article said: "The constant compromising of preachers to avoid controversy is creating much damage—not only to the world, which is looking for a clear sound from preachers, but also to believers who have little discernment or are growing tired of ambiguity."
Really? Hardly a day goes by where these preachers aren't in the news screaming about homosexuality and how abominable it is. It's also one of the most divisive issues in our politics today. Everyone knows that conservative Christians hate gays. Fact is that not everyone is required to.
I hope that Pete Buttigeig doesn't win the nomination because I don't believe red state America could handle it. However, can people imagine the outcry if a liberal magazine said that evangelical Christians are worthy of death for being angry, intolerant bigots?
since the evangelicals want bigger government and more government regulations, they should be called the religious left

Generally speaking Pentecostal lite without the greater emphasis on speaking in tongues of Pentecostals have to set them apart. Many belong to other than Pentecostal parent organizations like the Catholic Charismatic Renewal
I wonder if they were talking about more of the metaphorical death related to Christianity and not being saved. It is hard to understand the context of this quote with only a small snippet. Anyways, I don't buy into religion and will condemn anyone who advocates the killing of gays. The people who believe that gays should die should be mocked and ridiculed. I just can't stand small snippets that may have been taken out of context, all to create some reactionary news story, slow news week huh.
That preacher should have quoted the scripture in its full context:
"They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them"
I colored the words that seem to describe Donald Trump, not Pete Buttegieg.
Prominent evangelical magazine states that Pete Buttigeig "is worthy of death" for being gay
What exactly did it say? Did they say it as their opinion, or were they quoting from the Bible (Romans 1)?

Yes, many actions are deserving 'death' according to the Bible, although Romans 1 talks about homosexuality more than any other chapter in the Bible.
Exactly. Just some extremist type group that claims to be religious. Sorry, but "Thou shall not kill" comes to mind. Seriously there are plenty of religions the progress and have gay members. Some don't progress like Catholic, but a lot of Protestants do. This is just another extreme story to promote an agenda, but that is 98% of the Internet really.
You seem to be confusing mainline Protestantism (which is, and has been, in sharp decline for some time) with evangelical Christianity. We aren't talking about tolerant, thoughtful folks who merely go to church on Sunday and say their prayers. We are talking about folks that have the same internal logic as the Taliban, and a magical worldview frequently devoid of reference to empirical facts.

No prominent Christian would say Pete deserves death for being gay. However, Democrat presidential candidates want death for Roger Stone because he supports Trump and won't lie for the TDS prosecutors.

Life imprisonment (or the near practical equivalent their of), is not the same as wishing death on someone.
Basic honestly is important in ethical public discourse. If Conservatives want to be respected as moral authorities, they will have to do better than engage in cheap polemics that are designed to mislead.
Yet, many Christians take what the Old Testament says about homosexuality much, much more seriously than what it says about adultery. Many Christians like to pick and choose what they want to take seriously in the bible.
Picking and choosing one's moral tenets to practice is a human flaw that knows neither left nor right, religion or lack of, gender or sexual identity.
The only weak argument one can make against that is "yeah, well THEY do it more".
Homosexuality, as is adultery, is also considered sinful in the New Testament.
