China’s President for life Xi is under tremendous pressure from CCP rivals, the military, and common Chinese unhappy with his handling of the virus outbreak. The economic consequences for China are serious and getting worse by the day. How can Xi deal with the multiple crises and emerge on top? Will his answer be war, war on several levels?

Within China he could use the current crackdown to eliminate political rivals, and some say that process has already begun. Hong Kong could be allowed to fall into despair and chaos and then the Chinese could “rescue” the beleaguered inhabitants. The ongoing “problem” of Taiwan could be dealt with as the rest of the world is distracted and weakened. A lightning war would unite the PLA behind Xi and quell any popular unrest.

Outside of China, rivals like Japan and the U.S. would be distracted by economic turmoils and become vulnerable. Q: What is the difference between a vacation cruise ship infected by Covid-19 and an American aircraft carrier in the South China Sea? A: A couple of Chinese agents with contamination kits.

What do you think, will Xi make his move?

Why on earth would anyone want to deliberately spread the virus when he has no way to defend himself against it?

I hardly think creating a new crisis in the midst of an ongoing one would be wise.

The virus has wiped out the Hong Kong protests that were a thorn in his side.

Still going on -- 115 folks arrested two days ago.

The rest of the world is not distracted and weakened, the coronavirus is a nothing burger, and you might want to look at a map.

Yeah, there's a body of water that separates China and Taiwan.

Unless you think the Chinese army can walk on water or they can build a really really big bridge from China to Taiwan in the next 30 days, nothing will happen very slowly.

China does have a very limited number of amphibious assault ships, but not enough to invade Taiwan and certainly not enough to invade the US.

A little less panic and a little more brain power would do people a lot of good.

I don't agree with or even fully understand OP's theory. But if they (the theoretical saboteurs) had already had come down with the virus, they would have antibody defenses against it.

However, on a country wide scale there would be millions of Chinese, including leaders, who would be susceptible.
