What precautions should one take to prevent one's at risk family and friends, many of which may not even be in the same state, from contracting the disease?
DUH! Get a conscience, sociopath!
I'm a sociopath because I would rather people NOT PANIC and take the appropriate Precautions if they are at risk? I'm a sociopath for suggesting that?
Wow, how about those individuals ask their healthcare professional what precautions they should take?
HE's got nothing to be furious about. Trump has filled every agency with incompetent bootlickers whose only purpose is to destroy the agency they head. He has done it with the FDA, the EPA, Energy, and Education and, yes, with the CDC where another of his flunkies, Bolton, fired the staff and eliminated the division responsible for pandemic control. If one of his jackass appointees screwed up it is because of Trump and no one else - not even Obama.
the CDC's assessment and trump's assessment were both in agreement. neither wanted the folks brought back to the US yet. so of course he had something to be furious about.
Or have parents who are old, weak, sick, in a nursing home, or all of the above.
Or grandparents.
Or aunts/uncles/great aunts/great uncles.
Or friends.
Or coworkers/acquaintances.
So what, only like.... 98 to 99.9% of society?
Of course the quick fix to this is to just be a sociopath that doesn't give a s**t about anyone but yourself, in that case; yea - nothing to worry about.
People die. 100% of them. The question is when and from what cause.
I do understand your point, but I think that MANY people might be seriously overreacting to this coronavirus scare as it stands right now. Yes, things might very well change -- read up on the 1918 flu pandemic if you are not already familiar with it.
But the point is that of those who do have symptoms severe enough to cause worry and be tested, I think that it is now estimated that about 3% of those people who have been proven to be infected will die. (Again, that can change.) That doesn't mean that 3% of the entire population will. (Again, that can change.)
I think it is like saying that of those who have high blood pressure, many will end up with a major heart attack, and 14% of those who do have major heart attacks will die from that. That doesn't mean that everyone who has high blood pressure will die from a heart attack.
P.S. And not every realist is a sociopath -- and there is no need for insults, anyway, plus it is against the City Data's TOS.

The president contradicts public health experts statements on death rate, contagion.
"Well, I think the 3.4 percent is really a false number. Now, and this is just my hunch, and — but based on a lot of conversations with a lot of people that do this. Because a lot people will have this and it's very mild. They'll get better very rapidly. They don't even see a doctor. They don't even call a doctor," Trump said.
"You never hear about those people. So you can't put them down in the category of the overall population in terms of this corona flu and — or virus. So you just can't do that," he continued. "So if, you know, we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better, just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work but they get better."
My 12 yr old grand has better vocabulary and speaking skills - wow! So in the end, what did he really say?
If one is under 30 that is OK, but for the millions of us over 60 Trump is playing politics with our lives.
Couldn't agree more. But again, he couldn't care one whit about anybody in this country. It's ALL about him.
