When war is declared, Truth is the first casualty.
It seems the Pentagon and our wonderful government have been caught red handed. Don't think the media isn't a tool? Don't think you can get people to see heaven as hell and paradise as vile?
Hidden behind that appearance of objectivity, though, is a Pentagon information apparatus that has used those analysts in a campaign to generate favorable news coverage of the administration’s wartime performance, an examination by The New York Times has found.
Records and interviews show how the Bush administration has used its control over access and information in an effort to transform the analysts into a kind of media Trojan horse - an instrument intended to shape terrorism coverage from inside the major TV and radio networks.
One can never lose a bet underestimating the American public.
I personally don't have any faith in the government telling us the truth about anything anymore...it is all carefully orchestrated and manipulated.
This if off topic, but another example of the lies we are told... or the truth we are not being told...

I think most people don't think they are being told the truth, but the interesting part is, why don't they demand to be told the truth? What does that say about us?
Better to live in denial than to deal with the truth?

So, if this was so effective why did the public support turn negative so fast? If you recall, many folks viewed the war efforts as a failure when Kerry was running for office, quite some time ago.
i believe the internet and foreign news, and smaller news sources had a lot to do with that. People get their news from all over now. not just the major networks.
If we listen to Bush and Co., I guess we can go on believing that everything is just dandy...

Its kind of a messed up order that goes:
A) the majority of people dont give a crap about what happens to others, as long as its not happening to them
B) furthermore, the government only wrongs people who try to stand up for causes and get in the governments way
C) see A
D) the sooner everyone shuts up and lets the government do whatever they want, the sooner all the contraversy will stop
