Maddening isn't it.

He sued the New York Times last Wednesday. That one is almost certainly dead on arrival per myriad legal experts. The NYT suit is apparently eight pages of really embarrassing shoddy legal work that attacks as false and defamatory an opinion piece written by a former executive editor.

The First Amendment bars the Trump campaign’s defamation claim against the NYT per legal experts. Haven't heard much about this one.

One does have to wonder what they are up to, now. If the lawsuit is doomed to failure, why did they file it? Many think the lawsuit against the Times is a despicable and transparent misuse of the judicial branch as a political and fundraising stunt.

Imagine my surprise. This suit may be frivolous but Trump is dangerous. Vote Blue No Matter Who, in 2020!

Of course he'll take a swing at Bezos and the Post every chance he gets, but this is unwinnable and a waste of legal fees. Why would he waste his money?

WaPo /= to even a grocery store rag these days. IMO only the competently stupid and clueless believe them without or question now.
You know what you have written is a Trump created myth, don't you? Actually, Trump's undermining of the press is step one in an autocrat's playbook. You have been seduced and are being betrayed by a tyrant.

He’s taking a page out of Nunes’s book by suing just to be able to tell his idiot base that he is suing The NY Times and Post on the campaign trail.

I realize that many Trump haters on the left prefer feelings over facts and actual data so asking this question and expecting a reasonable and honest answer based on actual facts from the TDS infected Trump hating left is an exercise in futility but I'll ask anyway just for the heck of it

How exactly is Trump being authoritarian in any way and trying to...as you are insinuating.."get rid of a free press"?

Having your campaign sue a major newspaper for printing outright lies about your campaign isn't being authoritarian. It's a constitutionally protected right of anyone being libeled or slandered. Granted. the standard for a public figure to win such a case is higher but if Trump campaign lawyers can prove the Washington Post showed actual malice and prove that they knowingly printed false and defamatory information about the Trump campaign then they have every right to hold the Washington Post accountable by suing them.

This absurd narrative that calling out the documented lies of certain press members is akin to trying to get rid of a free press is embarrassing even by the ridiculously low standard the hysterical TDS infected Trump hating crowd has set these past 3 years.

I had no real issues with Obama but by the standard some of you are setting with the "Trump is attacking a free press" what Obama did to one of more press members is far worse. He spied on and went after AT LEAST a couple of prominent investigative reporters for looking into and reporting on fast and furious and other scandals/potential scandals involving his administration.

Trump has cut taxes, expanded 2nd amendment rights, been incredibly pro-Israel, and supported prison reform which has disproportionately affected (in a positive way) minorities who received overly harsh sentences for non violent drug offenses, and so on. Not to mention the fact he has taken a full onslaught of incredibly vile and often dishonest attacks from the "free press" he supposedly has been working to censor or get rid of.

Trump either absolutely sucks at being a fascist/Nazi/etc "dictator" or "authoritarian" or he is in reality the furthest thing from an "authoritarian". He sure as hell hasn't "gotten rid of" the free press who has been quite aggressive in exercising their freedom to spread lie after lie after lie about him. He has however rightly pushed and fought back on Twitter which many on the left aren't used to from Republicans. Previous Republican presidents sat back while the press s### all over them for being "presidential". The left simply isn't used to any Republican calling them out on their dishonest bull#### and they hate him and his supporters for it.

This is for Trump's ego and for his base.

Trump is a public figure so there’s a very high bar to cross for him to prevail.

Not bloody likely.

Yep!!! And watch this suit, if not thrown out, he will withdraw it. He withdraws ALL his lawsuits at the point of discovery....he cannot hold up under that scrutiny... this will be no different.

In other words, you don't have anything of substance to challenge any of the assertions made. Feels over facts. You do you.
