The U.S.A. used to be a great country. It wasn't all that great if you were Black or of Asian descent but it was great in the sense that it was respectable. Think of prohibition, Charles Lindbergh and later his son being kidnapped, Amelia Earhart, the stock market crash of 1929 and the dust bowl. Think of Jesse Owens at the 1936 Olympic Games, the Hindenburg bursting into flames over New York or New Jersey, and Joe Louis boxing with Max Schmeling. It was when used to build things like the skyscrapers in New York City, Mt Rushmore, the Hoover Dam, and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Fast forward several decades later and we've lost the respect that we had when we won the respect of Chinese, Filipinos across one of our coasts, and Benelux people's French, and Italians across our other coast. We've lost our confidence and optimism that we used to possess. We as Americans have bright and dark spots on our history just like many other nation's do. I'm not a vicious American hater or a flag waving jingoist. I just want to give a motivational talk to my fellow countrymen. Please don't bother replying if you're going to spread your Anti-American views and negativity. I say its time we take our country back.
We can gain our respectability by empowering our people to be producers once again, not people who parasitically seek to extract wealth off the back's of others. But that requires hard work, long term commitment, integrity, etc. This is stuff that comes from within. You need a fire in your belly, a burning desire to create and contribute. They don't teach that in school.
America will never be respected if we cannot stand on our own two feet independently. Instead, people are trying to tear this nation apart for their own selfish wants and desires. Not a good look going forward. Not many countries want to live out the current American nightmare, and who can blame them?

Prohibition, the 1929 stock market crash and the dust bowl are signs of greatness?
WWI vets being camped out because they're plight was ignored?
No offense but the 90's onward has seen an incredible leap forward in technology due in large part to American ingenuity. I guess some see 'greatness' as a physical construction project. A skyscraper, a dam... I see 'greatness' in the vast tech boom that has occurred in my lifetime and what incredible efficiency it has brought. My current truck has more safety and tech then I could've ever dreamed of 30 years ago. We're at the cusp of self driving and non-internal combustion transportation.
I'm putting my money on "the socialists" as the answer.
