What did you find lame about them?
Have you tried themed cruises?

I say no bailout. They wanted out.

If we must bail them out force them to move their headquarters back to the US at a minimum.
When the feathers settle from this financial freefall, going to be a long list of Americans and American companie who need bailing out.

Why would cruise lines in foreign countries would be anywhere on that list?

They're not ... and to even suggest that is false narrative. The list is easy to find and it's already been posted.

The cruise lines will not need bailing out.... IMO.

Cruise lines are at the bottom of the list. The companies that rely upon a supply chain to build their product are the ones that concern me.

The folks working in the local car assembly plant that cannot build cars because the supply chain of necessary parts coming from all over the world has dried up are the ones I feel empathy with. IF those folks working on the factory floors get laid off and cannot subsequently keep spending their dollars down line - a whole lot of others are going to feel the pinch.

It's not a case of only those on some stimulous list, but the fallout down the line to the very bottom of the socio-economic scale that people are failing to consider. Picture the situation of all those drive-thru windows closing and every one of those counter people at the fast food joints losing their income, the effects of that would create a ripple that would eventually reach tsunami proportions. People dropping out of university/college by the droves, seniors now going on welfare who were hitherto just scraping by without hitting the public purse. The economic effects of this, if it runs for very long, will be astronomical.

It's not necessary to have an apocalyptic zombie infection to slowly have everything grinding to a halt. Just have all of those we routinely take for granted in the manufacturing or service sector unable to work and watch how fast your everyday life suddenly turns into a hunt and peck exercise.

As a retiree now receiving a decent pension income from a past investment strategy taught by his father, this poster is not so foolish as to gloat over his good fortune. I'm old enough to understand my lifestyle depends upon the well being of ALL of society's members and not just those drinking their single malt from crystal tumblers.

Sounds true. but during the crisis we will continue to need a lot of air transport. Related medical equipment and supplies, as well as patient transport. And we will need that general sector back on its feet soon thereafter.
