I think to fully comprehend why certain people on this forum feel a certain way, it's important to note the generally divided opinions about the value of a human life even before the outbreak.

For some people, these lives are worth less:
Illegal immigrants
People on welfare
People who failed to assimilate to apple pie Americana (either culturally or physically, like having the wrong skin tone)

After the outbreak
Old people who would have died anyway
People with other health issues

With this view, I think we can understand where everyone is coming from.

a mandated lockdown (like what china did, with militarized police going door to door) is unconstitutional

wth is going on?
With Covid 19s fatality rate you could expect to see several million deaths in the USA alone. We are absolutely doing the right thing.

Again, I think are failing to understand that this economic crash will likely kill more people.

So if the amount of lives is the criteria we are using to judge things by I think my argument still wins.

Anyone can do the same (including older people).

Unfortunately we have a ton of obese, weak, unhealthy people in this country and that is why we are vulnerable to diseases like this.

And your statement about me not caring is simply incorrect. I've said before even though I'm fit and healthy I am willing to pay disproportionately more of my money to cover all of our sick people under a universal plan.
You have no idea what this virus could mutate into though, this is very likely to happen come fall.

If our government had taken this seriously a month ago we could have mitigated the economic effects...

That may happen whether we try to hide from it or not.

It wouldn't surprise me if there was some sort of government cover up on something. Often there is and it's usually tied into someone making money.

How so? I'd really like to know. I've heard people repeat this but no one has had the knowledge to explain why.
The exact same rules and regulations would just have been in place a bit earlier.

Could less be infected? Maybe. Logic tells us so. Could less people die? Maybe. Logic tells us so. So what would have been different economically wise?
