No such luck, OP. Some of the department stores were staying open, but now that shelter-in-place rules are in effect in much of the country, they'e switched whole hog to online sales, and are emailing their customer base with discount offers to lure them onto their sites. And some customers will fall for it.
I dunno, lots of bored women sitting at home with not much to do, and computer access? I doubt they plan to fill all their time with learning how to garden or sew. Covid19 hasn't seemed to slow people down from going out to public places or keep them home from grocery stores, I doubt it will make them act more responsibly in any other capacity.
We are sheltering in place - all non-essential businesses are supposed to be closed, Restaurants can oily do take out. Bars are closed. Coffee shops are closed. Basically it is a ghost town.
I am really worried about our commercial districts - I don't think many of these businesses can weather this closure unless they already did significant online business.
Toilet and paper towels if kept for a long time will start to get yellow as well as break apart easily with moisture and heat. So don't buy more than a 3 month supply.

I don't think there are any people wearing clothing made out of toilet paper and paper towels.

Why would they be exposed to moisture and heat? lol

I raised this concern with a couple of local small business owners this week. They said they've paid their rent for next month already, but their bigger concern is for their workers, whom they'll have to let go, with no idea if they'll be able to get them back.
Also, without knowing how long this business stoppage is going to last, they don't know if they'll be able to get their customers back, or even if they'll be able to hang on with their rent (or mortgage) through to when the ban is lifted. One of them did mention the interest-free-loan proposal Congress is currently discussing, to provide relief for business owners.

Heck, even if they DID get into gardening, or sewing, you still have to get out and get the plants, or seeds, or fabric and notions.
I'm a little bummed, because I'm a gardener, and I'm wondering how that's going to go, starting next month.
These are not decent clothes being made in America.
They are plastic, throw away, cheap clothes being sewn in sweat shops in China.
Fast fashion needs to stop.
Why?
Make it more palatable to recycle them instead. There are many markets out there for recycled clothing. People recycle cans for change. Do the same for clothing. Make it worth somebody's time to recycle, instead of just throwing stuff away, and telling people what they should wear and not wear.
