Enough is enough

$2 trillion bailout is WAY too much.

Help those who lost their jobs because of this, and that's it.

Without corporations there is no work for workers.

You all do know that whatever gets passed, it is going to reset the baseline, same as the 2009 Porkulus bill did, yes?

When the 2009 bill added $900 billion to the budget for that year, the budget baseline got raised by that $900 billion and has never gone back down. That is exactly what will happen here. We will add $1+ trillion to this year's budget, but also to the baseline, so that $5+ trillion budgets are the new normal, and the deficit will be $2+ trillion annually.

This won't be a one time, emergency thing. Bet it.

I would prefer that both parties review this enormous bill to ensure it’s a good plan. Personally I’m sick and tired of corporate bail outs and gimmee’s. The Republicans are well known to allow the special interests free reign in crafting their bills.

I hope it gets done right.

If you are going to hand out taxpayer money, the taxpayer is entitled to know how it is being spent.

What do you have against transparency when it comes to our money?

I guess you don't agree with "We need to pass it to find out what's in it" anymore. Why the flip-flop Finn?

Who wants a bill passed with these provisions? This is what the Democrats have a problem with:

• McConnell’s bill includes a $500,000,000,000.00 corporate slash fund for CEOs and the ultra rich — while leaving workers, families and children out to dry.
• McConnell’s bill has weak stock buyback language that can be waived by the Treasury Secretary; executive compensation limits only last for two years; language on worker retention is weak and includes easy outs for companies; there are no assurances in the language that workers will benefit.
• The bill provides little transparency of the lending done by Treasury (amount and to whom?).
• There are no specific provisions to protect from individuals from eviction, foreclosure or forbearance.
Other Major Problems:
• No money for state and local governments.
• No additional SNAP funds.
• No OSHA language to protect workers.
• No expanded emergency leave provisions.
Only 3 months on Unemployment Insurance – this is an insufficient length given the scope of the crisis.
• Direct Payments are not available to the millions of people who did not file a return in 2018 or 2019.
• No money to help with the treatment of the uninsured.
• The bill does not provide adequate relief for the 44 million federal student loan borrowers.

Get rid of all the giveaways to corporations, nix the slush fund of $500 billion, add in hazard pay for our frontline workers like grocery and gas station workers who are probably working for minimum wage as they put their lives on the line for their fellow Americans, and make every day American citizens the main focus of the bill, and it will pass.

See how easy that was?

The GOP is going to have to relent because their numbers are dwindling in the Senate and there many not be a quorum soon. Or will they let America crash and burn if they can't get their corporate perks and access to a slush fund to spend on their corporate cronies? The ball is in their court now.

I don’t care if the government has my name listed with the amount of money I receive as long as they do it to everyone. Fair is fair.
