The rest of us (and by "us" I mean 95% of the population)need to be allowed to live our lives.

If we continue shutdown, and people start losing their livelihoods it will turn ugly before the end of summer. Keep in mind this is a well armed populace. That's the last thing I want but sadly, its a prediction I think will be all too accurate.

End the quarantine by April 15.
The most at risk is over 85 years old. They aren't boomers though.
They are Silent Generation.

The youngest boomer is 56..not in the risk category.

We currently have alive Silent Generation, Boomers, x, y, z
5 generations my friend.

You have no proof it will. None. Stop with the fake drama. the sky isn't falling.

TB killed 1.5 million people in 1 year recently. You didn't seem too concerned about that.

You didn't address the only thing I commented on. You made up a number
What is a made up number? 20%? The age of the people who need hospitalization?

Look at the statistics for every country. And you see that is the number, more or less.

And they need hospitalization because they cant breathe as the disease destroys peoples lungs.

I'm 66, and I agree with the OP, also, unless it is proven that at least 5% of those under 50 who are not already in bad health and become infected are likely to need a ventilator. From what I have read, that is not the case.

I don't agree with tanking the economy just to protect those who are in their last years, anyway.

Of course it can kill tens of millions if the hospitals are overwhelmed and people cant get help to breathe. How is that so hard to understand? That why people are told to reduce the chance of transmitting the disease as much as possible.

People of all ages get seriously and critically ill from this disease except kids (might be an exception for infants).

The reason old people are more at risk of dying when health care resources are adequate (at the beginning of a pandemic) is because they are infinitely less able to cope with intensive care.

the death rate is below 1%. 'tens of millions' is an irresponsible thing to say. As of Friday worldwide cases were approximately 275k cases for 15k deaths. The actual infected number was no doubt greater than 275k.

At its worst we are looking at under 200k deaths total worldwide. If we shutdown the economy and people start rioting, trust me, the bombs and fire fights will take more than 200k lives.

The death rate is between 1-2% when everyone gets the care they need. Everyone gets the care they need when the number of cases are low. People dont get the care they need when huge swaths of the population get the disease over a few weeks and need hospitalization.

The hospitals are not going to be able to cope and give care to people if they are overwhelmed. And they will be overwhelmed by a factor of god knows how much if people dont respect the advice from experts.
Please provide a link for this statistic.
