Here is a picture (A video actually) from the bus station in Dehli, India yesterday:

The whole country was put in lockdown last week by Prime Minister Modi. That is 1.385 Billion people.

I do not believe that the word "Lockdown" means what they think it means, if this is what that looks like in that part of the world. If you want to get this spread around as quickly as possible, this is the surely the prototype example for how to achieve that.

This is not just a big crowd. It is a huge crowd, at one of the most highly trafficked bus terminals on Earth, in the heart of the capitol of the second largest country on the planet. These people are heading out to every corner of the country and possibly beyond.

Maybe they just want to rapidly adopt the herd immunity approach and let the short term problems be whatever they will.

Reminds me of how some states claim to have a "stay at home order", even though not a single person has been ordered to stay at home.

There is a video in this forum showing Indian police literally whipping those defying the orders. Like here, I guess they have some provinces/states, cities, where everyone is not cool with the okey doke. Oh well

No gathering of more than 10 million allowed now.

It’s the same reason my son got out of Vietnam. Just too crowded with the virus.

The masses of poor migrant workers are returning to their villages. The virus will explode throughout the country.

I checked again and indeed they are at a bus terminal(most crowded bus terminal I've ever seen). That make sense.

This will be interesting to see what a huge country pursuing the development of national 'herd immunity' in an unrestrained, maximally rapid fashion looks like.

There will be no need to wonder what it would have been like, if a large, densely populated country had tried it. The Indians apparently are doing it, whether they had planned to previously or not.
